Allen Daniel Guilliams

Mr. Allen Daniel Guilliams, age 29 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 in Huntington, West Virginia. Daniel was a welder and an 11 year member of Pipeliners Union Local 798. He was a member of Calvin Baptist Church and was an avid duck hunter and bass fisherman. Daniel was a 2007 graduate of Dodson High School. Born Monday, April 24, 1989 in Ruston, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Allen and Veronica Higgs Guilliams, Lynda Weeks and Lynwood Boyett, and A. D.

Gloria Brewer

Mrs. Gloria Brewer, age 75 of Winnfield, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018. Mrs. Brewer was a member of First Baptist Church of Winnfield and The Seekers Sunday School Class. She served as the First Baptist Church Daycare Director for many years. Mrs. Brewer taught in the Winn Parish School System for 34 years. Gloria was a member of the Pilot Club and ADK and served as president of both organizations. In her spare time, Gloria was passionate about playing Bridge with her friends. Mrs. Brewer was the founder of the SMILE Program at the Winnfield Kindergarten School and was a graduate of Louisiana Tech and received her Masters Degree plus 30 from Northwestern State University.

Joe Randolph Stroud

Mr. Joe Randolph Stroud, “Bug”, age 78, of Wheeling, Louisiana, joined our Heavenly Father, Creator and Master Builder of all things, on Friday, June 29, 2018. Mr. Stroud was born on November 23, 1939 in Montgomery, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, Houston and Muriel Jones Stroud, brother Robert Stroud and sister, Mary Bess Stroud. On November 21, 1970, he married the love of his life, Vondell Henley Stroud, his wife of 47 years. He was blessed with his loving family and is survived by wife, Vondell Stroud, their daughter, Tonya Stroud Adkisson Deynzer, son in law, Joel Deynzer, grandchildren, Joshua Adkisson, Zachary Adkisson, Savanna Matthews, Shelby and Kaylee Deynzer, son, Joseph L Stroud, daughter in law, Dawn Gilcrease Stroud, grandchildren, Hayley Stroud, Gage Lashley, brother Jim Stroud, sister Linda Stroud Starnes Mason, numerous wonderful nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and lastly canine “baby girl” Bella Star Stroud. Joy Parker

Mrs. Joy Parker passed from this life May 28, 2018 at Winn Parish Medical Center. She was a home-maker and native of Winn Parish. Funeral Services were held at Laurel Heights Baptist Church on May 31, 2018 at 10 AM with Rev. Lee Tilton and Rev. Melvin Lawson officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Wheeling Louisiana under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. She was the daughter of the late Leonard Mitchell and the late Gladys Brady Mitchell of Wheeling Louisiana. She was also preceded in death by two brothers Charles and Jerry Mitchell. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband John (Bud) Parker, daughters Cassie Rison and husband Ricky, Joyce Jordan and husband John. One son Gary Parker, six grandchildren John Parker, Chelsea Ford, Tyler Sharp, Justin Parker, Lacey Parker, and Colby Rison, also 7 great grandchildren. Serving as Pallbearers were Sean Ford, Tyler Sharp, John Parker, James Tabor, Billy Dans, and Scott Tilton.

Albert Tracy “Al” Harrel

Mr. Albert Tracy “Al” Harrel, age 59 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Monday, July 2, 2018. Born Sunday, March 1, 1959 in Winnfield, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Tracy Harrel. After he graduated from LSU, Al worked for many years at his families’ business, Harrel Builder’s Supply. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Winnfield. Mr. Harrel loved music, was an avid sports collector and accomplished carpenter. He loved all things LSU and Saline Lake. Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Mr. Tracy Lee Harrel; daughter, Christine Harrel; son, Nicholas Harrel; son, Marty Hebert; daughter, Caroline Harrel; daughter, Alison Harrel; 4 grand-children; and brother, Martin Harrel. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield from noon until time of services. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Southern Funeral Home.

Catherine Merlene Womack Franks

Funeral services for Catherine Merlene Womack Franks, age 84, a lifetime resident of Caldwell Parish, were held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 5, 2018 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia. Bro. Shane Duke of Cross Roads Baptist Church of Grayson officiated the service. She was laid to rest at Old Union Cemetery west of Grayson. Visitation was Thursday from 8:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Franks was born October 28, 1933 and went to be with the Lord July 2, 2018 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Fitzgerald, with whom she bore two sons, her parents, Elmer and Etta Womack, brothers, Earnest and Elmer Jr. Womack, her sister, Areece Womack Rea, a stepson, Nolan Franks and daughter-in-law, Ann Fitzgerald.

Doris Allene Hargrove Flournoy

Mrs. Doris Allene Hargrove Flournoy, age 90 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018. She was born Sunday, September 25, 1927 in Thalia, Texas and was a member of First Baptist Church of Winnfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Wiley Hargrove and Mary Grace Alexander Hargrove; husband, William C. Flournoy, Jr.; daughter, Taffy Creel; great-granddaughter, Autumn VanBlaricum; siblings, John E. Hargrove, Lucille Roberts, Euleta Poulson and Sylvan Hargrove. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Candace Franklin (Curtis) and Brett Flournoy (Shelly); grandchildren, Christy VanBlaricum (Kyle), Chad Creel (Kim), Chase Creel (Theresa), Chesney Baxley, Erin Flournoy Johns; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Coy Hargrove and Foy Hargrove. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. John Holland and Rev. Joel Hines officiating. Interment followed in Garden of Memories, in Winnfield.

Fred W. Davis

Fred W. Davis, 82, died June 27, 2018. He was born November 20, 1935 in Rison, Arkansas, the son of Willie B. and Rosie Davis. He was a supervisor for Louisiana Pacific and retired after 50 years of service. He loved fishing and he loved people. He would honor any favor asked of him. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ellis J. Davis, son Wayne Hatchett and daughter Diane Coleman. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Annette Davis, daughters Freddie Mae Cowians and Rosemary Davis, seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. A wake was held July 2, 2018 at Winnfield Memorial Funeral Home, followed by the burial July 3, 2018 at Johnson Memorial Cemetery in Hamburg, Arkansas. The family wishes to thank the Winn Parish Medical Center ER staff, Wren Quarter neighbors, Burks Temple CME Church and the many friends co-workers and family for all their prayers, calls and visits during our time of loss.

Winona Dubois

Winona Dubois passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She will be missed by her three daughters, Naomi Shirley (Larry), Wanda Allen, Doretha Severino (Larry) and her son, Jerry Dubois (Connie). Winona also had a sister, Mary Lou Carpenter. She was the proud grandmother of forty grandchildren. (Eight grandchildren, twenty eight great grand-children, and four great great grandchildren). She also had numerous nieces and nephews. She and her husband Raymond and children resided in Winnfield many years before moving to Houston, Texas. Service was held on Saturday, June 30, at the Dalton & Son Funeral Home. Interment was at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. May she rest and be remembered in peace.

Alton Asa Allen

Mr. Alton Asa Allen, age 86 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018. Mr. Allen was born Monday, December 14, 1931 in Winnfield, Louisiana to the union of D. C. Allen and Mary Weir Allen Jenkins. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Frankie Allen Dickerson; brother, D.C. Allen, Jr.; and nephew, Jonathan Allen. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served his country as a paratrooper during the Korean War. Mr. Allen attended LSU and was a member of the boxing team and later went on to win the Golden Gloves Championship. Mr. Allen had a photography bui- ness in Hawaii for many years, and was also a tour guide in Los Angeles, CA before retiring home to Winnfield. Those left to cherish his memory include his sister-in-law, Elsie D.
