Charles Edward “Ed” Crawford

Funeral services celebrating the life of Charles Edward “Ed” Crawford, 81, of Winnfield, Louisiana were held at 12:00 PM Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Brothers Dick Debusk and Bobby Bates and Dr. Charles Malone officiating. Interment was at the Bethlehem Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Ed was born January 24, 1941, in Winnfield, Louisiana. After graduating from Winnfield High School, he went on to graduate from Northwestern State College in 1964. He was the epitome of a true cowboy. From early on, he was in the rodeo club, was a bull rider, saddle bronc rider, bareback rider, and steer wrestler. His favorite, though, was team roping in his favorite position as header. He built a farm on Horseshoe Road where he enjoyed raising cattle and becoming a Certified Master Farmer. He proudly served on the Cattlemen Association board and as president of the local Farm Bureau Association for many years. Other things Ed has always been remembered for are his boxing days, along with his time spent in the National Guard where he earned the title of Major after 36 years of service. He will mostly be remembered as a strong, Christian man with a heart of gold.

Ed is survived by his wife of 17 years, Ann; daughters Carolee Adams and Polly Kaufman; son-in-laws Chad Adams and Dr. David Kaufman; grandchildren Jack Edward Adams, Emily Grace Adams, Caroline Kaufman, Maggie Kaufman, Benjamin Kaufman, and Henry Kaufman. He is also survived by step-children Collin Martin (Lauren) and their children, Catherine and Cade Martin; and Kayla Nugent (Cullen) and their children Colton (Elizabeth), Colby (Holly), Katelyn Nugent, grandchildren Brooklyn and Joanna Nugent; nephew, Mark Swanson; and several special cousins and close friends that he loved dearly.

The family received friends at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 10:00AM until time of services at 12:00PM.

Interment followed in Bethlehem Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Homes, Winnfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents Horace Edward and Corinne Elizabeth Crawford and his sister, Ida Beth Crawford.

Pallbearers were Chad Adams, Jack Adams, Danny Booth, Billy Collins, Tyler Haymon, Dr. David Kaufman, Cade Martin, and Collin Martin.
