Harold Thomas Tarver

Mr. Harold Thomas Tarver, age 90 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022.

Born Tuesday, December 29, 1931 in Winnfield, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Volena Melton Tarver and Marl Tarver; wife, Margaret Straughan Tarver; siblings, Viola Cole, Julius, Howard, Rudolph “Tootsie”, and James Tarver.

Mr. Tarver was a retired Master Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force. He also was a rural U.S. Mail carrier and worked with the U.S. Forestry Service. He enjoyed his daily “rounds” with Mrs. Margaret and continued them after her death and enjoyed hunting and fishing as well. Mr. Tarver was a member of First Baptist Church of Winnfield, the FBC Prayer Breakfast group, Danny Keyes’ Sunday School Group, and the Lions Club.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Debbie Young (Keith) of Monroe, Louisiana, and Jan Stephenson of Lewisville, Texas; grandchildren, Kyle Stephenson (Crissie), Megan Stephenson, and Sydney Archer (Alex); great grandchildren, Scarlett, Lilah, and Benjamin; sister, Gail Woodard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at First Baptist Church, from 9:30 AM until time of services.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Pipes and Rev. Danny Keyes officiating. Interment followed in Garden of Memories under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Serving the family as pallbearers were Jared Tarver, Jason Tarver, Douglas Tarver, Lance Gardner, Jake Hemphill, and Paul Woodard. Honorary pallbearers were Cooper Gardner, Kyle Stephenson, Benjamin Archer, Bob Tarver, Richard Cole, Tommy Straughan, Keith Young, and the Men’s FBC Prayer Breakfast Group.
