The Winn Chamber of Commerce invites you to the 19th annual Christmas Open House, to be held Thursday, November 12th, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Winnfield Open House attracts visitors from all over Central Louisiana, and is a great way to support the local economy by kicking off the Christmas season with your local merchants.

Auditor: Village of Dodson Missing $1,512 in Cash

The Village of Dodson appears to be missing approximately $1,512.24 in cash after the completion of its 2015 financial audit. The audit for the Winn Parish village found that village employees were not depositing cash to the bank daily, and money was stolen from village funds. The audit showed that the village appears to have violated the Louisiana Constitution’s general prohibition on donating public funds when it purchased $449 in funeral arrangements and flowers.

A driver being pursued by a Louisiana State Trooper

A driver being pursued by a Louisiana State Trooper ran a red light causing a collision with another vehicle on Tuesday. The Louisiana State Police handled the wreck at the scene assisted by a Winnfield Police Officer who witnissed the crash.

Winnfield Man Arrested on Drug Charges

On Friday, October 30, 2015, Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigation/Alexandria Field Office (LSP AFO) arrested Ladarrius Street (B/M 32 yrs) for possession with the intent to distribute CDS I (controlled dangerous substance), possession of CDS II (controlled dangerous substance), possession with the intent to distribute CDS II (controlled dangerous substance), possession with the intent to distribute CDS IV (controlled dangerous substance), illegal use of CDS (controlled dangerous substance) in the presence of minors, and illegal carrying of weapons.

The Winnfield Kiwanis Club has taken on the sponsorship of the local “Toys for Kids” program. This is a valuable program in our community for the children at Christmas and Kiwanis did not want to see it end.

Winnfield City Police Officers are combating illegal drugs every day. The month of October has seen efforts to improve our community with multiple arrests. On Oct 4, Officer B Glenn recovered 5 small bags of marijuana packaged for resale on a nighttime traffic stop.

Local golfer earns unprecedented championship

It was a special weekend for a local golfer in Winnfield. Pine Ridge Country Club hosted its 55th Annual Club Championship over the September 14-15th weekend and a familiar champion was crowned his record 9th Club Championship. Chase Hemperley outlasted Micah Hubbard (2nd Place -1 Under 216) and Rick Hanna (3rd Place +1 Over 217) for the title finishing with a 54 hole total of -5 Under Par 211. Chase had previously been tied with Rick Hanna for the most PRCC titles, standing at 8 championships.
