Bryan Bogle has been named Chief Executive Officer of Winn Parish Medical Center in Winnfield. Bogle moves into the position following the announced retirement of current CEO, Pat Flowers. Dan Rissing, Chief Executive Officer of Progressive Acute Care, parent corporation of Winn Parish Medical Center, made the announcement of Bogle’s appointment. Bogle previously served as CEO of Winn Parish Medical Center from 2010 until 2013.

In response to the Flint Water Crisis in Flint, Mich., the Winnfield City Council held a special called meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 20 to qualm any concerns residents had about the state of water in Winn Parish. Mayor Kiah Beville stressed repeatedly that the water going into Winn Parish homes is safe.

The Winnfield City Council met Jan. 12 and approved the application for a $50,000 LGAP grant that would be used for city recreation services and projects. The Council also approved the installation of speed bumps at Arkansas Street. In a split vote, the Council approved an ordinance proposed by District 3 Councilwoman Sarah Junkin to install speed bumps at Arkansas Street.

Dodson Mayor Loyd E. Vines passed away at the age of 71 on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, leaving behind a legacy of service to Winn Parish.

After being sworn in to office, the Winn Parish Police Jurors elected their 2016 president and vice president on Monday, Jan. 11. Allen Michael McCartney of District 7 was named the 2016 Police Jury president after he was nominated with no opposition.

A lengthy meeting on Jan. 4 led to the election of the new Winn Parish School Board President and Vice President, as well as recognition of test scores received for area schools. Joe Lynn Browning was elected the new president of the Winn Parish School Board, and Todd Martin was elected to serve as his vice president. The election portion of the meeting was brief, as neither nominee had opposition.
