Football contest results for Oct. 10 game day

For the second week in a row, no participant in the Winn Parish Enterprise Football Contest earned a perfect score. Patricia Street came in first place as the only participant who correctly guessed 14 games. Rodney Alderman, Mark Autrey and Matt Purser all tied for second, but Alderman pulled ahead of the tie with his tiebreaker guess of Winnfield 28 – Buckeye 12. His guess was the closest to the game outcome of Winnfield 48 –Buckeye 7.

WSHS defeats Buckeye 487, prepare for homecoming game against Avoyelles Mustangs

The WSHS Tigers defeated the Buckeye Panthers 48-7 Friday, Oct. 9 at Stokes Walker. “We played our overall best game of the year in all three phases: kicking game, offense and defense,” said Coach Andy Pyles.

Football contest winners announced for Saturday, Oct. 3

Not one participant earned a perfect score this week for the Winn Parish Enterprise Football Contest. Will King, Louis Bell, Jr., and Randy Holmes tied with 14 points, each only guessing one game incorrectly. However, Will King pulled ahead with his tiebreaker guess of Jena 37-Winnfield 17. Winnfield lost to Jena 21-0. In second place was Louis Bell, Jr., with a guess of Jena 28 – Winnfield 17.

Jena Giants defeat WSHS Tigers 210

The WSHS Tigers played Jena High School on Friday, losing 21-0 to the Giants. WSHS Head Coach Andy Pyles noted that there were quite a few players out for Friday’s game saying it didn’t help the cause any.

Winnfield Middle Races at Ruston Junior High

In their second outing of the season, WMS and WPS cross country runners competed in the Ruston Junior High Meet held on campus. The eleven team field included schools from throughout northeast Louisiana. WPS student Andrew Chevalier competed in the boys K-2nd grade division and finished the ½ mile race in 5:40. This was Andrew’s first race of the season. In boys 3-4th grade action, Jonathan Webster finished 14th in 7:03 over the winding 1 mile race course.

WSHS loses 35-22 to Peabody Warhorses, gear up for next week against old rival Jena

WSHS Tigers gave the game to the Peabody Warhorses on Friday, Sept. 25 at the first district game of the season, losing 22-35. Coach Andy Pyles noted that the offense made two or three critical mistakes at the wrong time and said the defense needed to be better at shutting down Peabody’s run game. “We played well in spots, in other spots we didn’t,” said Pyles.

Football contest winners announced for Saturday, Sept. 19

Six lucky participants earned perfect scores for week three of the Winn Parish Enterprise football contest. Last week’s champion, Joe Evans, returned with a perfect score along with Will King, Rodney Alderman, Mildred King and Louis Bell Jr., leaving the tiebreaker game to decide the winners.

Tigers crush Spartans 4228, prepare for first district game against Peabody Warhorses

The Winnfield Senior High School Tigers defeated the Caldwell High School Spartans 42-28 on Friday at Caldwell. “I thought our starters played the best they’ve played this year,” said Coach Andy Pyles. “Except for two plays, our defense shut them down the whole night.”

Week two of college football has come and gone. The winners of the Winn Parish Enterprise football contest for the games played on Sept. 12 are Joe Evans and Patricia Street. Nine participants tied for the win, each only missing a perfect score by one point.

Winnfield Tigers triumph over Jonesboro Tigers 4312, head to Caldwell Friday

The WSHS Tigers dominated Jonesboro 43-12 at Friday’s game, a move that proved the team’s resilience after the 30-0 upset against Many the previous week. “We had a lot of improvement from the Many game to the Jonesboro game,” said Coach Pyles.
