Flag football registration extended to Sept. 18

Registration for the 2015 flag football season began Monday Aug. 10 and has been extended until Friday, Sept. 18. The cost is $40. Boys and girls ages 4-12 are eligible for this exciting program. WSHS opens football season with Jamboree, loses 147 to Natchitoches Central

The WSHS football team was defeated 14-7 by Natchitoches Central at Friday’s Jamboree. Despite the loss, Head Coach Andy Pyles said he was pleased with the way the team played and how they handledthings.

Quarterback Club Renewal Letters Sent Out

Winnfield Senior High School’s Quarterback Club has sent out renewal letters for banners and scoreboard signs. The deadline for renewal is Tues. Sept. 1. If you need a letter sent to you, contact Margaret Martin at (318) 413-0897 or (318) 628-4613. Please send renewals in as soon as possible so banners and signs can be displayed at the first home game.

Hully Gully Tournament

The Pine Ridge Country Club in Winn field held a Hully Gully Tournament the weekend ofJune 4-5. 25 teams played 27 holes in a “Hully Gully” format that consisted of 9-Hole Four Ball, 9-Hole Scramble, and 9-Hole Alternate Shot Par 3. At the end of the tournament, the PRCC hosted over 80 people for a complimentary fish fry.

Hannah Morris Signs National Letter of Intent to LSUA for 2015-2016 Season

Hannah Morris, 2015 graduate of Weston High School has signed her National Letter of Intent to be a part of the basketball team for Louisiana State University at Alexandria for the upcoming 2015-2016 season. Hannah ended her senior year in basketball with 17.0 points per game, 8.8 rebounds per game, 5.1 steals per game and 2.4 assists per game. Hannah has also signed to be a member of the rodeo team at LSUA.

Lady Tigers host Softball Camp for local girls

The Winnfield Senior High School Lady Tigers held a Softball Camp on June 18 and June 19, where the team hosted a number of young athletes from around Winn Parish and the surrounding area. The camp kicked off on Thursday, June 18 with the young athletes arriving at 8:30 a.m. to meet and greet the Lady Tigers. From there, the youngsters were taught the fundamentals of the game that they love so much.
