Football contest results announced for Saturday, Nov. 7

The winner for the football contest for the week of Nov. 7 is Louis Bell Jr. Mr. Bell and Rodney Alderman tied with a score of 13 correct guesses, but Bell’s tiebreaker guess was closer to the score of that week’s WSHS football game against Marksville.

Narrow victory in first playoff game for Tiger Football

After being defeated by Marksville 45-28 on Friday, Nov. 6, the WSHS Tiger football team came back with a vengeance to win their first playoff game of the season against South Beauregard. The Tigers beat the Knights in a narrow 35-34 victory in overtime.

Bailor Brown competed in Shreveport at the State Fair

Bailor Brown competed in Shreveport at the State Fair as a part of the Winn Parish 4H. Bailor competed in the goat show, placing first and second with her market goats, both in the same weight class. Hunter Sims of Dodson helped out by showing one of her wethers in the weight class. Shown are Hunter Sims (left) and Bailor Brown (right).

WMS Cross Country finishes strong at State Junior High Meet

On a cold and rainy Saturday morning, WMS completed an outstanding season with a fine performance at the State Junior High and Elementary Meet held at the Gospel Campground in Ruston. The teams garnered 5 individual medals as well as a close 3rd place finish by the 5-6th grade girls. The meet included athletes from 18 schools scattered all across north Louisiana.

WYBL Basketball 2016

The City of Winnfield Recreation Department has begun registration for it's annual youth basketball program. Registration begins on Monday November 2nd and will run through Friday December 4. Regular registration fee for this league is $40.00. Boys and girls ages 4- 15 are eligible for this exciting program. Don't let this deadline pass you by.

WSHS Tiger football defeated Vidalia Vikings 29- 19 on Friday, Oct. 30. “Vidalia is a much improved football team,” said WSHS head football coach Andy Pyles. “They’re going to be a team to contend with coming up.”

Winnfield Senior High School beat Bolton High School 53-7 at Friday’s football game. “Even though it wasn’t a close game, I felt like we improved again this week,” said WSHS head coach Andy Pyles. “I was very pleased with our play of all 3 phases of the game.”

The scores in this week’s football contest were narrow, leaving only two participants at the top. Louis Bell, Jr. and Ralph Rogers tied for the win with 13 points each. Louis Bell, Jr. pulled a narrow victory with his tiebreaker guess of Winnfield 55 – Bolton 6, while Ralph Rogers guessed Winnfield 49 – Bolton 6. The Tigers beat Bolton 53-7 at Friday’s game.

Football Contest results are in!

Participation was up this week in the Winn Parish Enterprise Football Contest, and four participants tied with 12 correct guesses for the win. However, Will King beat out the competition with his tiebreaker guess of Winnfield 32 – Avoyelles 17. Rodney Alderman’s guess of Winnfield 42 – Avoyelles 20 earned him second place. Winnfield beat Avoyelles 20- 14 at the Homecoming game Friday.
