Mike Smith, 58, of Pineville, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at his residence. Arrangements to be  announced by Hixson Brothers, Pineville

 

Mrs. Alice Emogene Nelson, 82, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 at her home in Dodson after a lengthy illness. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Debbie Dark and husband Roger of Jonesboro; son, Michael Nelson and wife Kayla of Dodson; grandchildren, Denise Chestnut, Mark Parker, Jess Logan Nelson and Zack Nelson; great-grandchildren, Sarah Chestnut, Hunter Freeman, Trenten Parker, Madison Nelson and Jess Michael Nelson; special friends, Sherry Forest, Wanda Brown and Sandra Durbin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Dorothy Durbin; husband, Jack Nelson. Funeral services were held Thursday 2:00PM at Antioch Bible Way Church, Brewtons Mill with Reverend Elton Gunter, Reverend Richard Harmon and Reverend Randy Dark officiating. Burial followed in the Antioch Community Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were; Mark Parker, David Chestnut, Roger Dark, Zack Nelson, Stanley Parker and Hunter Freeman.

Mr. Lloyd Allen Chatham, 67, of Chatham, La passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at University Health in

Shreveport. Mr. Chatham served in the National Guard as well as the US Navy. He was a member of Chatham United

Methodist Church, member of Sons of Confederate Veterans and he served in the Vietnam War while in the US Navy.

Mrs. Sarah Olline King, age 96 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at The Specialty Hospital

of Winnfield. Born Thursday, May 3, 1917 in Gaar’s Mill, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late William Albert Crain and the late Ora Leona Simmons Crain. She was the wife of the late Carven King. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Kermit Crain, and sister, Leo Crain Walker. Mrs. King was a graduate of Gaar’s Mill High School and 1938 graduate of LSU with a BA in home economics. She was a member of the Dodson Baptist Church and was retired from the Winn Parish School Board. Those left to cherish her memory are son, Billy King and wife Sue of Cartwright, LA, daughter, Sarah Jones and husband Danny of West Monroe, LA, Grandchildren, David,  Christie, Buddy, Mason, Cynthia, and Caleb, 10 Great Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 3,

Gayle Ann Lawson-Bailey, age 64 of Dodson, LA passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014. She is survived by her husband

Patrick Bailey of Spencer, IA; son Darrell Swisher of Sealy, TX; daughter Sonja (Steve) Rowe of Dodson, LA;  stepdaughter Sally (Jim) Kellog of Des Moines, IA; 2 step-sons Michael (Sharice) Bailey of Corpus Christi, TX and John (Wendy) Bailey of Patterson, IA, a special family friend Cherry (Tony) Billingsley of San Antonio, TX; 16 grandchildren – AnnaMarie, Domineco, Dante, Jasmine R, Kaleb, Sarah, Stephanie, Jacqueline, Laurie, Bryan, Ashley, Ethan, Evencia, Markayla, Alan and Jasmine  B; 3 great grandchildren – Daniel, Eli, Hannah and a host of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and family friends. A memorial service will be held in July in Danville, IL.

 

Mr. Harry Dale Moore, 65 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Christus St. Frances

Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana. Dale was born Tuesday, April 19, 1949 in Covington, Kentucky. He attended Faith Baptist Church, of Winnfield, LA. Dale was preceded in death by his father, Allen Thibodeaux. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Karen Sue Moore, Winnfield, LA; mother, Alberta “Bert” Tanner Thibodeaux; daughter, Michelle Thompson and husband Michael, Winnfield, LA; and grandchildren, Cameron, Landon, Carson, & Ansley. Services for Mr. Moore were held from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Faith Baptist Church in Winnfield, LA.
