Alberta Bennett

Mrs. Alberta Bennett, age 82 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Born Wednesday, February 17, 1932 in Montgomery, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her Mother, Jessie Perkins Fredieu, Father, Gus Fredieu, Husband, Bobby Bennett, Step-Son, Robert Bennett, and Step-Daughter, Sue Ellen Bennett. Those left to cherish her memory include her Step-Daughter, Rose Pye and husband Steven, Salt Lake City, UT, 2 Step-Great Grandchildren, Brother, Clyde Fredieu, Montgomery, LA, Brother, Floyd Fredieu, Colfax, LA, Niece, Rita Shelton, Colfax, LA, and other numerous nieces and nephews. Charles Robert Evans

Mr. Charles Robert Evans, age 68 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2014. Born Monday, March 25, 1946 in Atlanta, Louisiana, he was a log truck driver. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents, William & Velma K. Evans; Brother, Billie Joe Evans; Step- Daughter, Lisa Edmonds. Those left to cherish his memory include his Wife, Dessie Evans; Daughters, Angela Barton (Travis), Kristie Hanemann (Jay) and Nikki Gaar; Son, Robert Evans, Jr.; Step-Daughters, Angela Young (Mitchell), Christina Brouillette (Butch) and Marie Meche; 21 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. Chuck LaCroix officiating. Arline Teer

Arline Teer of Pasadena, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2014, at the age of 91 after a short illness. She was born in Calvin, Louisiana on October 21, 1922. Arline attended Calvin High School where she was the captain of the state basketball championship team, and won a state contest for a speech titled “What It’s Like to be an American Girl”. She graduated as Valedictorian of her class. She went on to become a nurse and during World War II, worked in California. She practiced in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, and retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston. Arline was proud of representing St. Joseph’s as a speaker on innovative urology techniques. This past January, she celebrated being a friend of Bill for 40 years and following the 12 steps. She was very devoted to helping others with their life challenges. She will be lovingly remembered by the many friends she made and lives she has touched.

Born Monday, May 21, 1923 in Selma, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her Parents, Arnold & Susie Williams; Husbands, William Oliver & Arthur Burns; Sister, Lillie Mae Howell. Those left to cherish her memory include her Son, Lonnie W. Oliver (Maxima), Winnfield; Brother, Melvin Williams, Winnfield; Sister. Margie White, Weston; Grandchild, Genevieve Casares (Daniel), Gaithersburg, MD; Great Grandchild, Jack Oliver Casares; The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 22 from 1:00 PM until time of services. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Tarver officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories, in Winnfield. DeJuanna Cage

On November 7, 1981, DeJuanna Cage was born to loving parents. DeJuanna was raised in the Wren Community of Winnfield. In 2000, she completed her education and received her diploma from Winnfield Senior High School. On August 16 of 2002, DeJuanna gave birth to a daughter, whom she loved dearly. In our loss, the prayers, visits, phone calls, food and thoughts have strengthen us during this time. We especially thank Winn Parish Medical Center, Pastor G. Tomell Hamms and our New Zion Church Family for facilities and support. DeJuanna leaves to cherish her life: Her daughter, Kenya Christale Cage. Parents, Margaret and Frederick “Ricky” Cage Sr. and brother Frederick Cage Jr. her paternal grandmother, Evangelist Nadine Cage, her sister, Trameka Farmer Johnson and her brother Terrance Wade. Mr. Charles Daniel Gibbs

Mr. Charles Daniel Gibbs, 73, passed away Friday, October 10, 2014 at his home in Goldonna. Mr. Gibbs was a logger, an avid deer hunter and he was a member of Antioch Community Church. He is survived by his daughter, Melisa Gibbs Bowman and husband Phillip; grandson, Sterling Bowman; granddaughter, Amber Harvey; brothers, Donnie Gibbs, Gary Gibbs and
Rodney Gibbs; sister, Karen Duck. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Gibbs; parents, Roland and Lola Martin Gibbs; daughter, Kellie Dean Post. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 12 noon at Antioch Community Church with Bro. Hayward Hossler and Bro. Bobby Bates officiating under the direction of Southern Funeral Home, Jonesboro. Interment was in the church cemetery
