Mrs. Jerolene “M.J.” Carroll

Mrs. Jerolene “M.J.” Carroll was born March 20, 1921 to the late John G. and Robecca Carroll in Winnfield, LA. She was a faithful, life long member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Winnfield, LA. A graduate of Winn Training High School, she continued her education at Southern  University, Louisiana Tech and Grambling State to receive her Masters Degree. She taught school in the Winn Parish School System for many years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of AKA Sorority and Worthy Matron of Will Eaton Chapter #27 OEA Prince Hall and later a member of The Pride of Creston #110 and a board member of Community Brides. She was united in marriage to the late Jerry Hatten. To this union was born one daughter. Mrs. Carroll departed this life on January 12, 2015 at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home. She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter-Pha Carroll Ford and son-in-law David W. Ford of Winnfield, LA; four grandsons – Russell T. Franklin of Winnfieldl, LA, Joel A. Crowder of Alexandria, VA, Michael Ford of Honolula, HI and Andy Ford of Houston, TX; one great granddaughter – Crystal Franklin of Belise, South America and one great grandson, Elijah T. Frankin of Winnfield, LA; three sisters-inlaw: Mildered Hatten and Carrie Mae Jenkins both of Harrisonburg, LA and Mildred Sherman of Winnfield, LA along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Keith King, Narvin Powell, Anthony Hall, Detrick Williams, John C. Jones and Lionel Sharman.
