Sharon Renee (Deas) Young

Funeral services for Sharon Renee (Deas) Young 43 of Dubach, LA were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston, La. Rev. Doug Stewart officiated. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Simmsboro, LA. Mrs. Young died Sunday, February 23, 2014 at her home in Dubach, La. Sharon had been employed as  a postal worker in Dubach. She was Pentecostal by faith. She is preceded in death by her husband Jarrell Wayne Young Jr. and her father Roy Wayne Deas, Sr. She is survived by her children Jessica “Jessie” Rochelle Young and Jarrell “Trace” Wayne Young, III both  of Dubach, LA; mother Rosia Dale (Bazar) Deas of Dodson, LA; two brothers, Roy Wayne Deas, Jr. and wife Kate of  Georgetown,  LA and Paul Anthony Deas and wife Martha of Dodson; inlaws Jarrell Wayne Young Sr. and wife Helen of Dubach, LA and numerous extended family and friends.

John Aubrey Gunn

John Aubrey Gunn, 78, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Preceding him in death were his parents Leon and Ruthie (Sweat) Gunn, one son David Wayne Gunn, one sister Jeanette Gunn and three brothers George Gunn,  Christopher “Chris” Gunn and Jimmy Gunn. He is survived by his wife Patricia Ann (Ferreira) Gunn; two brothers,  pencer Gunn and W. L. Gunn; three sisters Carolyn LeFevre, Vickie Skelton and Gwen Bloxham and husband Roger; one grandchild Clinton Gunn; three great grandchildren Makenzie, Jace and Kai, along with numerous other loving family and treasured friends. Services for Mr. Gunn were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2014 in the chapel of Neal Funeral Home with Bro. George Elledge officiating. Interment followed in the Rosewood Cemetery, Humble, TX under the direction of Neal Funeral Home. Pallbearers were: Tyrone Smith, Frank Onwuachi, Clinton Gunn, Spencer Wallace Gunn, Shane M. Gunn and Kevin  W. Gunn.

Mrs. Mertis Lou Gilmore

Mrs. Mertis Lou Gilmore, age 81, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2014 at Legacy Rehab and Nursing Home in
Birmingham, Alabama. She was born on May 19, 1932 in Columbia, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband
Leland (Jack) Gilmore, her son Terry Gilmore, sisters Bobbie White and June Anderson, and great grandson Storm Cangemi. She is survived by her sister Joan Cader of Olla, LA, son Leland Dale Gilmore and wife Joyce of Birmingham,  AL, granddaughters Dana Tidmore and husband Joey of Corner, AL, and Missy Cangemi and husband Paul of Vidalia, LA, grandson Josh Gilmore of Chelsea, AL, and great grandchildren Tyler Tidmore, Bailey Gilmore, Charlotte Gilmore, Katie Cangemi, and Cole Cangemi. Mertis was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Always faithful to God and family. She was a member of spring Creek Baptist Church. Funeral service were held at 11:00 AM in the chapel. Mrs. Dessie Bates Long, age  86 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014. Born Tuesday, November 01, 1927 in Calvin, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, Georgie S. and Julie M. Bates; Husbands, A.G. McCarty, James Wade “J.W.” Long and Blanchard “Snooke” Hines. Mrs. Long is survived by her daughter, Deborah Brooks, Winnfield, LA. Graveside funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 03, 2014 at Bethlehem Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Bates officiating.
