WSHS Powerlifting Team

The Winnfield Tigers added a new sport to their competition this year with Powerlifting. Coach Danny Carroll, along with Coach Jarvous Felton and Coach Lyn Bankston, melted together a group of students to participate in this challenging sport.

All season long these lifters, coaches, and those who were standing by to support gave their all. “The kids showed great character and competition drive during each meet. Being a first year program they excelled all year”, says Coach Carroll. The State Meet was held at the Rapides Parish Coliseum in Alexandria, where schools from all across Louisiana came to show what they have been training for all year.

The lifters at Winnfield Senior High School would lift five days a week, two hours per day. On competition week they would push a little further and lift up to four hours, with 72 hours rest time before competition day.
