The 17th Annual Youth Fishing Derby was held on June 8th by the Winn Ranger District of the Kisatchie National Forest, the Winnfield Bass Club, Sheriff Cranford Jordan and the Winn Parish Sheriff’s Office. There were over 60 youth ages 2-12 who participated in the event, along with parents and others. Over 100 people attended the fishing Ranger Bradley Cooper thanks all of the parents and guardians who brought their children to the event on Saturday morning.
The pond was stocked with 825 pounds of nice sized catfish for the event. The fishing was fantastic with more than 140 fish caught! There was a great deal of family fun as children and youth enjoyed fishing in the beautiful National Forest settinized.
In the 2-4 class, Leah Catlin caught the biggest fish at 5.32 pounds, and Reese Avery Reed had the biggest stringer at 4.20 pounds.
