Winn Parish Cardiology now available in Winnfield

A cardiologist is probably not the type of doctor that you would expect to find in Winnfield, but the Winn Parish Medical Center has opened a new facility right here in town. Winn Parish Cardiology is a five-day a week office located on West Court Street in Winnfield. The cardiologist on staff is Dr. Deborah Cortlandt, who hails from the Midwest.

History and Civics students from Winnfield Senior High School paid a visit to the Winn Parish Registrar of Voters last week to learn about the voting process and the steps necessary to register to vote. Registrar Rita James registered ten students while Deputy Bryan Kelley walked the rest through the different election cycles.

Winnfield Locals Team Up to Win 2nd Place at Uncle Earl’s

Justin and Casey Pritchett owners of JC Kennels team up with Jacob Turner of Mississippi in the Old and Young Competition at Uncle Earls Hog Dog Trials. JC Kennels dog Rocket and Turners dog Jazebel bayed a perfect score in the first round earning them a place in the bayoff.

Atlanta High School Book Club Takes Spring Field Trip

On Wednesday, April 16, 2014 Dr. Katrina Jordan and the Bulldog Book Club at Atlanta High School took a trip to see a movie based on a book that many of them have read and/or are reading. They went to Monroe to see “Divergent” which is a  story about a dystopian society and is similar to the “Hunger Games” movie and book

The Winn Parish School Board honored retiring teachers before their monthly meeting on May 5. Prior to the 5:30 p.m. meeting, a reception was held to honor seven retired educators from Winn Parish.
