Krewe of Kingfish Presents Program at Recent Rotary Meeting

It was Ash Wednesday, the day following Fat Tuesday (or Mardi Gras) when the Rotary Club of Winnfield heard a presentation on the efforts of the local Krewe of Kingfish to keep the spirit of Mardi Gras alive and well here in this north Louisiana community.

Rotarian Jane Purser had the program and it was she and her husband Don who chaired the committee that first brought Mardi Gras and the Krewe of Kingfish to Winnfield in 1993. That was the year that the city celebrated the 100th birthday of hometown celebrity Huey P. Long. Fellow Rotarian Samantha Kelly who now serves on the Krewe of Kingfish brought the presentation to the club.

Central Management’s Rockstars Commitment Helps Staff Meet Rising Customer Expectations

Article Image Alt Text

Resident and family expectations have changed significantly in the nursing home industry over the past several decades and Winn-based Central Management continues to be a leader among Louisiana’s nursing facilities in adapting to meet those expectations.

Rotarian Teddy Price, Central Management’s CEO, brought several administrators to the Feb. 22 meeting of the Rotary Club of Winnfield for a program on the “Rockstars” program, one tool they are employing to encourage staffers to meet the changing expectations.

The length of stay of nursing facility residents is considerably shorter than it was 20 years ago. Then, the nursing home was often the final residence for a patient before they died. Now, with hospital stays being much shorter, rehabilitation in nursing facilities plays a much larger role. Customers are generally coming in younger and healthier than before. Last year, 7 in 10 transitioned back home with the completion of therapy.
