Brenda Gale Berteau

   Funeral services were held for Brenda Gale Berteau at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Sammy Diesi conducted the funeral service. Interment was held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington. Mrs. Berteau, age 63, a resident  of Winnfield, LA, died on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at Winn Parish Medical Center. Brenda was a nurse for 13 years at Winn Parish Medical Center. She enjoyed crocheting, making jewelry, making candles and making homemade wine. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.

Charles E. Lasiter

Funeral services for Charles E. Lasiter, age 67, of Kelly, were held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 27, at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Scott Smith officiating. Interment followed at Pine Hill Cemetery in Olla. Charles was born September 16, 1947 to Howard and Mary Johns Lasiter in Wilmar, AR and he passed from this life on February 23, 2015 at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. He was a hardworking logging contractor for 44 years. He was also a cattle and timber farmer. He served his country in the Army and loved to work in his garden. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 32 years: Nelda Jean Smith Lasiter of Kelly; four sons: Clayton Shane Lasiter and his wife Sharon of Olla; John Mark Lasiter and his wife Mary of Monticello, AR; Jimmy D.

Funeral services for Mrs. Freida J. Grimes, age 71, of San Augustine, Texas were held Saturday, February 28, 2015, at
Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine, Texas. She was born May 10, 1943, in Bessie Mae, Texas to the late John
and Lillie Mae (Boyett) Ramsey. Mrs. Grimes was survived by her daughter, Dana Wilkerson; sons, David Wilkerson and wife Susie, Corey Wilkerson and wife Twyla; 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; aunt, Eunice Mercer of Winfield, La.;
uncle, Lawson Boyett and wife Lucille of Natchitoches, La. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Wilkerson; and sister, Carolyn Ramsey.

Cecil Ray Lewis

Funeral services for Cecil Ray Lewis were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015, Liberty Christian Church in Colfax, La with Rev. Leonard H. Free and Rev. Sonny Tyler officiating. Interment followed in Union Grove Cemetery, Montgomery, La., under the direction of Kramer of Colfax. Cecil Ray Lewis, 70, of Verda passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Allen John “A.J” Lewis and Eula Lee Wheat; sister Linda Lewis Trisch; brother Lonnie Lewis; and grandchild, Kylie Bruce. Cecil was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many and will be dearly missed. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, as well as, fishing and woodworking.

Mr. Melton Maurice “Doc” Parker

Mr. Melton Maurice “Doc” Parker, age 92 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, March 01, 2015 at his residence. Born Friday, February 23, 1923 in Sikes, Louisiana, he was a US Army veteran having served his country in WWII. Mr. Parker was retired from Shell Oil Company with 35 years of service. After retirement, he also worked for the Winn Parish Sheriff’s Office for 12 years. He was a member of Old Union Baptist Church and Charles F. Buck Masonic Masonic Lodge, No. 260 F&AM, Urania. Mr. Parker will be remembered as an avid hunter, fisherman and farmer. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Miron & Elizabeth Gregory Parker; Wife, Faye Porter Parker; Siblings, Ted Parker, Rush Parker and Marjorie Rushing. Those left to cherish his memory include his Sons, John Parker and wife Donna and Dock Parker and wife Elaina all of Winnfield; Daughters, Beverly Harrell and husband Hovey, Natchitoches and Cherry Beth Salter and husband Kevin, Urania.

Born Tuesday, April 16, 1963 in Monroe, Louisiana, he was  preceded in death by his Father, Charles Armstrong. Johnny L. Ingles

Johnny L. Ingles left to be with our Lord in Heaven on January 11, 2015 with his family by his side. He was born in Winnfield, Louisiana on July 13, 1935. Johnny served in the United States Army until 1967 when he moved to Texas City, Texas and met the love of his life, Guadalupe Fuentes. They enjoyed 48 beautiful years together. Johnny joined the Painter’s Union 585 in 1969 and became president in 1973. He retired as the president in 1999. Johnny loved to travel, and he spent many years visiting different parts of the country with his wife. He will be grievously missed by his beloved wife, Gaudalupe
Ingles and numerous family members. Johnny is preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Ingles; father, Thomas Ingles; sister, Lavern Lang; brothers Clifton Ingles, Donald Ingles, James French and Jack French. Johnny was laid to rest in Winnfield, Louisiana next to his father with a graveside service officiated by Pastor Wallace Ingles.
