Master of Arts in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree from Northwestern State University this Friday. Matthew is a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Psi Chi honor society, as well as being a member of the American Counseling Association. He also serves as the Mu Kappa Alumni Association president for his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha.

The WSHS Cross Country team landed two graduating seniors on the All-State Academic Team for the 2018 year: Tyler Hight and Edward Teal. The LHSAA recognizes performance by its student athletes not only for their athletic ability, but also for the excellence achieved in the classroom.

The program recognizes senior student athletes who have maintained the necessary GPA requirements of having kept a four year cumulative 3.5 GPA or above in order to receive ALL-State Academics while participation in varsity sports.

The Winnfield Christmas Parade will be beginning at 6 pm on December 14 th , this Friday. Before the parade strolls through Main Street, there are more activities going to be taking place.

The Mayor, George Moss, along with City Hall would like to invite you to the Library on December 14 th , to meet and greet the Grand Marshalls for he parade.

Winnfield Senior High School is proud to announce the annual post-season awards for the 2018 Football Season. Seven Tigers received recognition from District coaches as All District selections. Eight players received Honorable Mention.

Coach Lyn Bankston says “this is a tribute to all the hard work, dedication, and mindset these players developed and for the attitude they had towards their teammates.” He added, “It’s just a culture you have to develop and mindset which will far exceed the athletic playing field”.

The Winn Parish School Board met on Monday, December 3, 2018. In this meeting Superintendent Steve Bartlett announced that Winn Parish’s schools have received their scores from the Louisiana Board of Education.

Without a doubt, he was thrilled to announce that Winn Parish improved from a Grade “C” to a Grade “B” for the 2017-2018 school year. Coming in at 78.5%, Winn Parish schools were happy to see improvements in all areas of the parish.

The school performance scores are determined on the school assessments (test scores), the schools growth and improvement from one school year to the next, ACTS scores for high school, Work keys testing (High school), and the percentage of students that graduate in four years (high school).

Saturday, December 8 th , Grove Street Gym will be having a Family Fun Day. It will begin at 10 am and last till noon.

This is an opportunity to see the newly renovated Grove Street Gym and what recreation activates they have to offer every one of all ages.

The recreation department offers baseball, football, and basketball seasonally for the kiddos. They also have a play ground for those sunny days.

Home décor, candles, skin care, sweet treats and so much more are what will be presented at the Dug’s Mistletoe Market.

This Christmas Vendor Market will be held December 7, 2018 at the Winnfield Civic Center from 5 pm through 9 pm. It will only be a $1 admission or a pair of socks. All admission proceeds will be donated. Some of the vendors listed are Rodan and Fields, Tupperware, and Younique.

There will be all kinds of Christmas goodies. There will also be a $100 cash drawing that will be taking place that night.
