Winn Parish School Board Installs New Walk Through Metal Detectors

The School Board for Winn Parish met for their scheduled monthly meeting on April 1, 2019. The board approved the calendar for the 2019-2020, with a total of 172 instructed school days.

For the maintenance and building portion of the meeting, the board reported that the walk through metal detectors were scheduled to be installed in the Winn Parish Schools on April 2. After a follow up on a few administration members and students, the metal detectors have been up and running for the past week.

This was a decision made by the Winn Parish School board to ensure the safety of the school’s administration and students. There will be orientations given to the administration of each school to ensure that every one knows the purpose and function of these devices. End of the year testing is right around the corner for Winn Parish. Starting April 15, the EOC testing will begin; April 1 st , the LEAP testing began. On April 29 th , the Senior Scholarships Banquet will be held at the Winnfield Senior High School beginning at 7 pm.
