Rotary Hears How Technical Colleges Aim to Arm Students at Jobs Skills

In his introduction of the Rotary Club’s speaker Chris Broadwater on March 27, Rotarian Jack McFarland seemed to borrow a line from The Wizard of Oz with “Preacher and Lawyer and State Rep, oh my!” Now vice president for Workforce Policy for the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, Broadwater has filled all of those above posts was well as serving as assistant Secretary of Labor under Gov. Bobby Jindal.

He spoke about the system’s flexibility as it works to identify the jobs skills sought by industry then providing training generally in two years or less for students.
