Article Image Alt Text

A familiar landmark in Winnfield was forever changed in the early hours of February 19, 2018. The home located at the corner of Center and Pineville Streets, which has lovingly been referred to by locals as “the pink house”, went up in flames.

Winnfield Fire Department Fire Chief Brian Montgomery said a driver in the area called to report the structure fire at approximately 6:10 a.m.

Chief Montgomery said units were on the scene within minutes, and the fire was under control and extinguished by approximately 6:20 a.m. He said there were a couple of points of origin where fire began in the unoccupied dwelling, which prompted him to call in the Louisiana State Fire Marshal. “The State Fire Marshal is currently conducting an arson investigation, and if anyone has information regarding suspicious activity, they are asked to call the Winnfield Fire Department.”

It is important to remember that a utility bill is not solely based on the usage of one household, but is also based on the cost to purchase the energy from providers. Winnfield residents will see the impact of the extreme cold temperatures and increased energy cost on their March 2018 bills
