Lori Spangler (right) and Jennifer Dill gave a very inspiring and heartfelt presentation to the Winnfield Rotary Club recently about their participation in a St. Jude Children’s Hospital Marathon in Memphis, TN where they raised over $6000 for the cause.
The Krewe of Kingfish Mardi Gras Parade will roll through Downtown Winnfield and celebrate its 23rd year on Saturday, Feb. 7. Line-up for the parade will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Earl K. Long Park. The actual parade will begin at 3:00 p.m. and will travel down historic Main Street.
The Kisatchie Quilt Guild met for its regular monthly meeting at the First Assembly of God Church on Thursday, January 15, 2015. Billie Ann Bates opened the meeting with prayer and Jessie Hand led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance.
We are pleased to announce the 50thWedding Anniversary of Fred and Nita Chandler of Winnfield. The couple were married at Cypress Creek Baptist Church on January 22, 1965 with Rev. Jewel Canerday officiating. Fred and Nita made their home in Winnfield where they owned and operated several businesses throughout the years
Rotarian Mickey Simmons sponsored Dr. David Guerin, Executive Director for University Communications at Louisiana Tech University at their weekly Rotary meeting to discuss the state of the university. Dr. Guerin, with 8 years at Tech, was very knowledgeable on the progress the university is making and their goals. He discussed their long-term strategic plan in regards to where they have been and where they are and where they are going.
If you saw a face that looked familiar on the Monroe television stations recently, it was probably Troy M. Wold, son of Ted and Mimi Wold. On Dec. 10 Troy donated the last pint which pushed his total blood platelet donations to 50 gallons. He was honored by the Lifeshare Blood Center, interviewed on television and radio and had publicity and congratulations flying through Facebook from friends and strangers.
