The celebration began Sunday,May 31, with altar flowers placed in the First Baptist Church in Winnfield in their honor. Sunday lunch was prepared for themat the home of her brother Shelton Collins and his wife Jackie. The celebration continued on Friday, June 5, on Houston CountyLake in Crockett, Texas. The entire family spent the long weekend kayaking, tubing, playing games, and just being together.Congratulations, Frank and Bobbie Jean, on 60 years together!

Nikki Triplett and the late Tolbert Trilett, III of Winnfield, LA and Daphanie Turner-Lewis also of Winnfield, LA wish to announce the upcoming marriage of their children, Tashana Triplett and Demond Turner, both of Winnfield. Tashana’s maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John C. Jones Jr. of Winnfield, LA. Paternal grandparents are Murlene Triplett and the late Tolbert Triplett Jr. of Winnfield, LA; and her maternal grandmother is Doretha Winslow of Clarence, LA. She is a 2011 graduate of Winnfield Senior High School and a May 2015 graduate of Northwestern State University with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration.

The Rotary Club of Winnfield celebrated with the T-Ball team that they sponsor by having a hot dog cookout after one of their recent games. The T-ball team was comprised of 5-6 year old girls and was coached by Lacy Nugent.

Dupree Speaks at Recent Kiwanis Meeting

Local author Ben Dupree spoke to the Kiwanis club, Monday, June 1, 2015. He was born and raised and still lives in Goldonna, La. Dupree taught in the public school system in Winn and Natchitoches parishes until he was medically retired. His medical retirement came as the result of being diagnosed with blaphrospasm which is muscle spasms of the eyelids (involuntary closure of eyelids) and leads to functional blindness. Dupree said he thought teaching was his calling until he could not teach anymore.

American Legion Auxiliary

American Legion Auxiliary members from left to right, Florene Keen, Maxine Godman, and Gayle Gilcrease placed a memorial wreath at the gravesite of Everett Fick on Memorial Day. He was killed in action during World War I and the American Legion Auxiliary is named for him.
