Kisatchie Quilters Hold October 16 Meeting

The Kisatchie Quilt Guild held it regular monthly meeting on October 16, 2014 at the First Assembly of God Church. President, Jessie Hand called the meeting to order with prayer by Patsy Beaubouef. Pledge of Allegiance was led by Dottie Richmond.

Kiwanis Club 201415 Installation Banquet

The Winnfield Kiwanis club held it’s 2014-15 Installation Banquet Monday, Oct. 13th at the First Presbyterian Church. President Steve Bates called the meeting to order. Patrick Askin led the Pledge of Allegiance, Lamar Tarver gave the invocation and Dr. Jerry Williams led in the Kiwanis defining statement. Bates welcomed everyone and we enjoyed a delicious meal catered by Linda Peavy of Jonesboro. After the meal Bates recognized the new members from the 2013-14 year - Jim Nicol, Pat Flowers, Jeremy Miller, Stacey Rachal, and Larry Bates. Lt. Governor Richard Rose of Division 11 was present to install the officers for the 2014-15 year.

The Winnfield High School Class of 1964

The Winnfield High School Class of 1964 capped off halftime at the 2014 WSHS Homecoming game with a $1,000 donation to the Winnfield band. The class also made a $1,000 donation to Wounded Warriors, a charity for veterans.

daughter, Emily Suzanne to Andrew Steven Bates, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Bates of Winnfield, Louisiana. The bride-elect
is the granddaughter of The Reverend and Mrs. A. W. Smart, Sr. of Homer, Louisiana and the late Dr. and Mrs. James E. Ball, Sr. of Rayville, Louisiana. Emily, a 2012 graduate of Ouachita Christian School, is currently pursuing a degree in education
through the University of Louisiana Monroe

Brent Carpenter, new as principal of the Winnfield Middle School, spoke to the Kiwanis club, Monday, August 25, 2014. Carpenter is a product of the Winn Parish School system. He went to city schools until the 8th grade when his family moved to Calvin and he graduated from Calvin in 1995

Kiwanis Club Members Hold Pancake Supper Event

More than 15 local businesses donated to the Kiwanis Club for their first Pancake Supper event. Every dollar raised through donations and ticket sales is returned to the community through projects such as: Winn Parish Scholarships,
Terrific Kids Programs in all Winn Parish Elementary Schools (Kindergarten through 4th grade), WSHS Baseball Booster Club, The Bugs Program (Bring Up Your Grades), Winnfield Food Pantry, Toys for Kids, The Winnfield Christmas Parade 
and, of course, the Kiwanis International “Eliminate Project.”

Winnfield, Louisiana – Residents living in and around the Winnfield, Louisiana community can be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke or bone fracture. Bethlehem Baptist Church will host Life Line Screening on 9/3/2014.
