Kiwanis Scholarship Committee Chairman Lamar Tarver introduced Beaux Cody Vines and his parents Amy and Brett Vines to the Kiwanis Club Monday, May 18. Vines received one of two $750 scholarships given by the club this ear. Tarver told the Vines family and reminded the club that the money for the scholarships came from the Boston  Butt lunch that is held each spring. Beaux Vines scored a 29 on the ACT, had a 4.0 GPA and was one of the valedictorians in his graduating class. Vines told the club that he is planning to attend ULM with a double major in history and accounting. He would like to teach history and maybe do some accounting on the side. However, Vines also said he is going to be in the ROTC at college and is very interested in being in the army. He would like to attend West Point. He has applied but was not accepted and may reapply later. He won a scholarship to go to Normandy this summer. Vines thanked the club for the scholarship and said the money would come in handy for buying books and other esse tials for college.
