Can you capture the “Spirit of Winn Parish” in a photograph? The Winn Chamber of Commerce and the Pea Patch Gallery will host the “Spirit of Winn Parish” photography contest to see who can capture the “spirit” of the Winn area, town and people. The public is encouraged to stop by the Pea Patch Gallery and vote for the best entries! Voting will end the night of Christmas Open House on Nov. 12 at the Pea Patch Gallery. Each person will be asked to vote for his or her favorite 12 photos. The most popular photo entry, as will be determined by the voting public, will win $100.

Fire Fighters Rally Behind 50Year Tradition with MDA, Raise over $1800.00 During 2015 Fill the Boot Campaignh

Winnfield, LA, September 21, 2015 - More than 20 members of the Winnfield Fire Department and the Winn Fire Protection District #3 raised over $1800.00 during the annual Fill the Boot campaign on Saturday, September 19 to help save and improve the lives of people fighting muscle disease in the Winnfield and surrounding areas. Muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other related life-threatening diseases take away people’s ability to walk, move, smile, talk and even breathe.

Club 13 Holds September Meeting

Home Demonstration Club 13 held their first meeting of the year on Thursday, September 10 in the lovely home of Anna Bell Taylor. The meeting was held at 1:30 p.m. President Judy Davis called the meeting to order. Plans for the year were discussed. Dumplings are back! That’s right, we will again sell dumplings on September 30.

Training to help Winn Parish residents start businesses

A four-part training series beginning Sept. 10 will help Winn Parish residents take their dreams of owning a business to reality. “Exploring Your Small Business Dream” is a free, four-part training series sponsored by the City of Winnfield and StartCentral, a program of the Central Louisiana Economic Development Alliance and funded by The Rapides Foundation.
