Hendrix Graduates GSU Friday

With great pride the family of Dakvin “DK” Hendrix, announces his graduation from Grambling State University Friday, May 13, 2016 at 10 a.m. DK will receive a Bachelor of Education Degree; Emphasis: Therapeutic Recreation. His future plans are to become a certified Recreational Therapist and pursue a profession catered to his sector of education.

CLTCC to hold Pinning Ceremony for Practical Nursing Class 28 at Huey P. Long Campus in Winnfield on May 11

Central Louisiana Technical Community College (CLTCC) is pleased to announce the Pinning Ceremony for Class 28 of its Practical Nursing program at its Huey P. Long Campus in Winnfield. The 2016 graduation candidates will be “pinned” and honored for their successful completion of the program. A reception will follow the ceremony.

June Melton Speaks to Kiwanis

June Melton from the Winn Chamber of Commerce spoke to the Kiwanis club, Monday, April 18th. She said the question she gets asked the most is “What does the Chamber do?” The main thing the Chamber does is represent Winnfield and its businesses. She gets a lot of requests for school children for information about Winnfield and Winn Parish and mails out a lot of brochures.

Bartlett, Rosier United in Marriage

Melanie Anne Bartlett of Winnfield and Joshua Bryan Rosier were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony on March 12, 2016, in the Memorial Chapel of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport. The marriage ceremony was officiated by Dr. Calvin Phelps of Natchitoches and nuptial music was provided by pianist, Mrs. Ashley Price Nacquin of Ruston. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Deuane Bartlett of Winnfield. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Violet Rhymes and the late Mr. Bobby Rhymes of Winnfield and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Clyde Bartlett of Calvin. The bride is a 2011 graduate of Winnfield Senior High School and a 2016 graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the College of Engineering and Science and a minor in Biology.

Mason and Amber Ford (nee Neikirk) are thrilled to announce the birth of their little girl, Elliotte Karoline. Elliotte arrived at 3:17 pm on January 19, 2016, in Ruston, LA. She weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces, and measured 19 3/4 inches in length.

Local CASA Administrator Desirae Bruce speaks to Kiwanis Club

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) is opening a local office in the building that was Courthouse Pharmacy across from the Courthouse according to Desirae Bruce, local administrator. Bruce spoke to the Kiwanis club, Monday, March 28th about the CASA program and the need for an office in Winnfield.
