Drive-Thru Flu Shots Offered at Winn Parish Health Unit

Drive-thru flu shots will be offered at the Winn Parish Health Unit (Old Martin Hospital) located at 301 West Main Street. Please wear a short sleeve shirt and bring your valid photo ID, Medicaid and/or Medicare Card. There will be a maximum $10 fee. Children 12 or younger will be seen inside the health unit.

Turner Speaks at Recent Kiwanis Meeting

Kathy Turner, FINS (Families in Need of Services) officer, spoke to the Kiwanis club, Monday, October 26, 2015. This program has been available since 1994 and is under the jurisdiction of the Louisiana Supreme Court. The office is located in the Winn Parish District Attorney’s office but is not part of the DA’s services.

American Legion Auxiliary Holds October Meeting

The Everett S. Fick American Legion Auxiliary District 8, Unit 9 held their October 2015 meeting at the Briarwood Caroline Dorman Nature Preserve in Saline, Louisiana. Briarwood is the birthplace and home of Caroline Dorman, a world renowned naturalist, author and artist. She was the first woman to be hired in the United States Forest Service.

Bond Speaks at Recent Kiwanis Meeting

Wade Bond with the Central Louisiana Children’s Advocacy Center spoke to the Winnfield Kiwanis club, Monday, October 19, 2015. Bond is also associated with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. The Children’s Advocacy program helps children who have been sexually abused. In the past, children had to tell their story numerous times to numerous people and it was very hard on them.

Kisatchie Quilt Guild Holds Meeting October 15, 2015

The Kisatchie Quilt Guild met for the regular meeting on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the First Assembly of God Church. Opening prayer was offered by Carolyn Bramlett and Patsy Beaubouef leading the Pledge of Allegiance. President Martha Jordan welcomed members and guest Virginia Stringer of Jonesboro.

American Legion Auxiliary September Meeting

The American Legion Auxiliary, Everett S. Fick Unit 9, Area B, District of Winnfield, met on Wednesday, September 30lh at 5:30 pm at Fox’s Pizza Den. The purpose of the meeting was to honor local high school girls who represented Winn Parish at Girls State, which was held earlier in the summer at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Emergency Department Receives National Award

Natchitoches Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce the Emergency Department has been named 4Q 2015 Studer Group® Emergency Department of the Quarter. NRMC was selected out of 600 hospitals nationwide. As noted by the Studer Group, NRMC’s Emergency Department has improved patient satisfaction and decreased wait times.
