Jettie Dean Shelton Moore

Mrs. Jettie Dean Shelton Moore, age 84 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018. Mrs. Moore attended Sardis Baptist Church and was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, gardening and gospel singing, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.  Born Wednesday, January 24, 1934 in Atlanta, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Clarence Shelton and Florence Eileen Lee Shelton; husband, L.G. Moore, Jr.; son, Jeff Darwin Moore; siblings, Kay White, Pat Shelton and Richard Shelton. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Ronny Lynn Moore (Sandra), Shirley Moore Myers (Dago), Debbie Moore Perillo (Kenny), Kevin Douglas Moore (Cathy) and Tammy Moore Smith (Kenny); 12 grandchildren, 21 greatgrandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Cele Thompson, Cloy Shelton, Linda Grove, David Shelton, Connie Ferguson and Lawanda Holmes; long-time friend and companion, Darrell Bloodsworth..

Mary Beth Shaw Premeaux

Mary Beth Shaw Premeaux, 75, passed away February 18,2018 at her home in Nashville, TN. She was born September 19, 1942 in Winnfield, LA to the late J. T. Shaw Jr. and the late Annie Rai Doyal Shaw. Mary Beth was a member of the Winnfield High School graduating class of 1960, an excellent athlete, earning all-state honors in basketball. She was a successful and highly respected property management professional in Nashville, TN and a much loved and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gordon R. Premeaux; daughter Kimberly Yager (Craig) of Virginia Beach, VA; son G. Michael Premeaux (Cynthia) of Pickerington, OH; grandchildren Connor Yager, Chase Yager, Morgan Premeaux, Megan Premeaux and Mason Premeaux; brother John G. Shaw of Montgomery, LA; sister-in-law Dianne Poisso of Winnfield. She was preceded in death by her brother Donald W. Shaw of Montgomery, LA

Mrs. Lozie Barber “Maw” Thomas, age 95 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018. Born Monday, May 29, 1922 in Franklinton, Louisiana, she was a member of The Family Church and enjoyed fishing and gardening. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her parents, Cleve and Ada McGee Barber; husband, Virgil Thomas; siblings, Albert Barber, Edison Barber, Wilber Barber, Ellis Barber, Anslee Barber, Houston Barber, Earl Barber, Rosa Dean Sumrall, Martha Westmoreland and Earline B. Hinson. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jewel Thomas (Linda); grandchildren, Charls Thomas and Charla Shelton; great grandchildren, Joshua Thomas, Lauren Bryant, Sloane Shelton and Sydney Shelton; and four great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 2, 2018 at The Family Church with the Reverends Joel Hines, H.W. Smith and Jerry Cox officiating.

Born Monday, May 12, 1924 in Creston, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, John Andy and Valley Butler Stewart; husband, Calvin Reeves; daughter, Judy Reeves; sister, Pearl Stewart; and brothers, Earl, Carl Lee, and J.T. Born Sunday, August 22, 1937 in Noble, Louisiana, he was retired as owner of Williams Used Car Company. He was a 48 year member of Laurel Heights Baptist Church and a 32nd degree Master Mason of Winnfield Eastern Star Lodge No. 151 F&AM. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, Melton Marion Williams and Iner Belle Scott Williams; siblings, Luther Williams, S.L. Williams, Jim Williams, Helen Hutto, Zora Vines and Elvie Weatherly. Mineola “Missy” Oglesby

Mrs. Mineola “Missy” Oglesby, age 78 of Verda, Louisiana was born Friday, December 22, 1939 in Verda, Louisiana and passed from this life on Monday, February 19, 2018. Missy attended Verda School. After graduation she attended Northwestern State University where she obtained a two year Secretarial Science degree. She worked for United Gas in Shreveport, Lousiana for a while until she married. She was a homemaker and she raised three children. She was preceded in death by her father, James Bailey Johnson, mother, Ruth Johnson, husband, Don Oglesby, great grandchild, Landon Lane McConathy-Parks, and brother, Charles Johnson. Those left to cherish her memory are Don Oglesby, Jr.

Margie Kelley Dobson

A service to honor the life of Mrs. Margie Kelley Dobson was held at 2 pm Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Briarwood Baptist Church in Saline, LA with Bro. Dick DeBusk and Bro. Trey Etheridge officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches. Mrs. Dobson, 84 years of age and a resident of Chestnut, passed away February 16, 2018. She was born on May 22, 1933 to Edwin C. Kelley and Lela Durbin Kelley in Winn Parish, LA. She married Roland Dobson on July 15, 1950 and shared 62 years together until he passed away in 2013. She enjoyed traveling with Roland and visiting new places together. A long-time member of Briarwood Baptist Church, she enjoyed fellowship with her church family. Her greatest treasure on earth was her family. The happiest times were when her family could gather and enjoy a meal she prepared for them.

Mrs. Dorothy Durbin Caskey, age 87 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. Born Wednesday, July 2, 1930 in Goldonna, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Abner Durbin and Pearl Ruth Durbin; son, David Glen Caskey; brother, Denny Lawrence Durbin; and sisters, Estelle Coile, Aubyn Gill, and Mary Reidheimer. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 72 years, Henry L. Caskey, Jr., Dodson, LA; daughters, Donna Privett (Don), Ball, LA and Cheryl Walters (David), Dry Prong, LA; 7 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and sister, Carrie Humphrey (Jerry), Hosston, LA. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 16, 2018, at Gloryway Church with Rev. Ronny Taylor and Rev. Donald Privett officiating. Interment followed in Gloryway Cemetery, near Dodson. Serving the family as pallbearers were Timothy Privett, Todd Box, Joshua Box, Daniel Caskey, John Nobles, Chris Allen, and Ray Duck.

Mr. John E. Garrett, age 85 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018. Born Saturday, August 13, 1932 in Dodson, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Hubbard E. and Lettie A. Holloway Garrett; and son Steve Garrett. Mr. Garrett was a retired road construction superintendent and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 66 years, Christabell Singleton Garrett; son, James Stanley Garrett (Cecelia); daughters, Rebecca Garrett Jordan (Michael), Teresa Garrett Bailey (Norris), and Anita Garrett Parsons (Frank); 10 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Reverends Lamar Carpenter and Dick DeBusk officiating. Interment followed in Bethlehem Cemetery, under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Linda Carol Newcomb Sterling 58 of Sikes, LA formerly of Norwood, LA, Gloster & Summit, MS went to be with the Lord on Monday February 12, 2018. Linda was born on Sept 14, 1959 in Amite, LA to the union of L.C. & Jerline Newcomb. She is preceded in death by her father L.C. Newcomb and former husband Kim Sterling. Those left to cherish her memories are her mother Jerline Newcomb of Norwood, LA; son Jason Sterling& Jessica of Benton, LA, brother Jimmie Wayne “Tub” Newcomb & Charlotte of Stonewall, LA; the love of her life Jerry Erskins of Sikes, LA and two daughters Caitlan Erskins Loftin of Ruth, MS & Amanda Erskins Pigott of Summit, MS; grandsons Jackson & Davis Sterling; Jase Pigott, Riley & Layton Loftin. Nephew Cory Newcomb of Castor, LA and niece Bethany Faye Newcomb of Stonewall, LA. Linda graduated from Centreville Academy in 1978. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her five grandsons.
