Mr. Weyman Rodney Brantley

Mr. Weyman Rodney Brantley, age 80 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018. Born Saturday, March 19, 1938 in Goldonna, Louisiana, he was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church and owned and operated a tractor dealership for a number of years. After retiring, he was a dispatcher at the Winn Parish Sheriff’s Office under the administrations of Sheriffs Buddy Jordan and Cranford Jordan. Mr. Brantley was preceded in death by his parents, Felton P. Brantley and Bertye B. Williams Brantley; siblings, Ray Brantley, Patsy Anderson and Lamourie Eaves. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 61 years, Shirley Branch Brantley; daughter, Kim Lynne Brantley and husband William G. “Bill” Kelley; nieces and nephews, Janis Eaves, Patricia Brewer, Patrick Yancey, Scott Yancey and Patrick Yancey. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Prince officiating.

Mrs. Ethel Beatrice Killen

Mrs. Ethel Beatrice Killen, age 95 of Houston, Texas passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018. Born Thursday, December 28, 1922 in Stamps, Arkansas, she was preceded in death by her parents, Arthor and Willie Harrison Bright; daughter, Barbara Andrews; and husband, Walter Killen. Beatrice was a homemaker who did numerous arts and crafts. She lived in Winnfield Louisiana for over 60 years and was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church. After Walter passed away she stayed in Winnfield for 12 years. She spent the last ten years in Houston Texas with her daughters, Kathleen and Peggy.

Mr. Max Dale Smith

Mr. Max Dale Smith, age 73 of Sikes, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Born Thursday, September 28, 1944 in Urania, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Maxel and Ruby Jenkins Smith; son, Bryan Smith; granddaughter, Suzanne Miller; and brothers, Wayne and Bobby Joe Smith. Max enjoyed riding his motorcycle and farming peas and watermelons. He was a member of the Sikes Apostolic Church. Max was a conversationalist who never met a stranger. He had a kind heart and was family oriented and absolutely loved his grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jan Smith, Sikes, LA; daughters, Tanya Clark (Tigger), Carlyss, LA, Dana Smith (Nicole), Shreveport, LA, and Ashley Carson (Seth), Winnfield, LA; grandchildren, Heather, Kendall, Gage, Max, and Maisy; great grandchildren, Trenton, Alijah, and Aidan; sister, DeLynda Womack (Lane), Sikes, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Katherine Joan Beaubouef

Home Going services celebrating the life of Katherine Joan Beaubouef will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville, with Brother Shane David officiating and a Family Reading by Willie Beaubouef. Burial will follow in Frazier Cemetery, Prospect. Visitation will resume on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Pallbearers honored to serve are James Honeycutt, Ryan Honeycutt, Alajandro Ducote, Robert Jones, Doug Phillips and Cleveland Dodge. Honorary pallbearers are Darren Phillips, Bruce Phillips and Lee Jones. Katherine Joan Beaubouef, 78, of Alexandria, passed from this life on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Rapides Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Katherine attended Word of Grace Church. During her working career she was a Resident Training Assistant for Pecan Grove Training Center. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

Born Thursday, December 11, 1969 in Richmond , Virginia, she was employed as a Workforce management at National General Insurance Company. Mrs. Ferguson was predeceased by her parents, Melvern J. Albright and Carol Ruth Albright. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Anthony Ferguson; father and mother-in-law, Wayne and Connie Ferguson. Graveside funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Atlanta Cemetery with Rev. Gary Parker officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Janice Marie Pennington Hennigan

Mrs. Janice Marie Pennington Hennigan, age 68 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away in Downsville, LA on April 13, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Quitman Isaac Pennington of Snyder, TX and the late Orel Cartwright Pennington Bustin of Sikes, LA. Janice was born February 5, 1950 in Snyder, Texas. She graduated from Sikes High School. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Walter Sherman Pennington and Carl David Bustin. Those left to cherish her memory include her two sisters, Shirley Juanita Walker and Patricia Smith, two sons, David and wife Laura of Winnfield, LA and Jay and Betty of Joyce, LA; her grandchildren, Alyssa Hennigan and Hugo of Arlington TX, Andrea Allen and husband Eaghan, and Aiden Hennigan all of Winnfield, LA and three great grandchildren, Jackson, Hayden, and Hugo, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday April 16, 2018 in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel.

Bobby Wayne Horne

Mr. Bobby Wayne Horne, age 82 of Atlanta, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018. Mr. Horne was a hard working man who mentored many young loggers. He set a fine example for family and friends. He was a member of the Atlanta Baptist Church. Born Wednesday, March 11, 1936 in Verda, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Earl and Thelma “Bill” James Horne; wife of 53 years, Alice LeBaron Horne; brother and life long logging partner, James “Marvin” Horne; son, Mark D. Horne; and daughter, Belinda Horne Simmons. Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Tracey L. Horne (Sarita), Jeffery W. Horne (Penny), and Tommy R. Horne; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Craig James and Rev. Matt Endris officiating. Interment followed in Atlanta Cemetery, in Atlanta.

Terry Risher of Bentley

Terry Risher of Bentley, LA, formerly of Winnfield, passed away February 22, 2018, at University Hospital of Shreveport, LA. He was 67. Terry was an avid fisherman and hunter and a retired electrician. He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie Risher and Bessie Tolbert Risher of Winnfield. Terry is survived by his son, T.J. Risher of Winnfield and many friends. Due to family illness, a memorial service will be held at a later date. He is sadly missed.

Floyd Sherman Parker, Jr.

Mr. Floyd Sherman Parker Jr., age 79 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home in Winnfield April 9, 2018. He was the son of the late Floyd Sherman Parker Sr. and the late Hazel Lowrie Parker. Mr. Parker was a native of Texas and served in the U.S. Army for twenty three years. He served the people of Winn Parish as a deputy Sheriff for twenty years with the Winn Parish Sheriff’s Office and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of fifty three years Mrs. Twilla Dell Evans Parker, children Marva Floyd (Mike), Floyd Sherman Parker III (Elizabeth), Anna Parker Martin, Tony Parker, and Terry Parker (Beverly) and a sister Marion Parker Prince. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018 in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Steven Smithson officiating.

Tommie Joe “Trey” Beasley, III, age 41 of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018. Born Friday, February 11, 1977 in El Paso, Texas, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Felix J. and Annie Ernestine Mercer; and paternal grandparents, Tom, Jr. and Ernestine Beasley. Tommie was an avid LSU fan and a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity at ULM. He loved his niece and nephew like they were his own children. Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Tommie Joe Beasley, Jr., Tupelo, MS; mother, Betty Jean Mercer Beasley, Shreveport, LA; sister, Natasha Clifton (Morris, Jr.), Jonesboro, LA; nephew, Cayden James Clifton, Jonesboro, LA; and niece, Presley Holder, Jonesboro, LA. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Andrew Partington officiating. Interment followed in Garden of Memories, in Winnfield.
