James Dudley Phillips

Mr. James Dudley Phillips, age 79 of Winnfield passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018. He was born November 11, 1938 in Lovelady, TX. Mr. Phillips was predeceased by his parents, Dudley and Rena Phillips; sons, John Phillips and Kenny Phillips; grandchildren, Riley and Reagan Hall; sons-inlaw, Woodie Woods and Tom Winemiller. Survivors include his wife, Carol Hudson Phillips; children, Elizabeth Phillips Woods of Batson, TX, Donna Winemiller of Baytown, TX, Billy Phillips of Tomball, TX and Rodney Phillips of Dayton, TX; step-sons, Tony Lacaze of Dallas, TX and Bo Lacaze of Selma, TX; siblings, Don Phillips, Edna Pounds and husband, Linda Sue Moody and Fay Leech and husband; sisters-in-law, Barbra Austin, Doris Blake, Joyce Holly and Syble Cupp all of Winnfield; 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Jimmy R. Guin

Jimmy R. “Jim” Guin, 78 of Shreveport, LA formerly of Winnfield, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018 in Bossier City, LA. Born December 19, 1939 in Castor, LA, he was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Frances Guin, wife Peggy Grisham Guin, son John Joseph “Joey” Guin, brother Jackie Guin and son-in-law James Pratt. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a Winn Parish police juror and barber. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church. Those left to cherish his memory include a son Eric Curtis Guin, daughters Betsy McLaren (Jack) and Brenda Pratt, sisters Theresa Chelette (Waymon) and Margaret Boyler, brothers Joseph Guin (Cathy), Jeryr Guin and Johnn Guin, special friend Jeanette Horne, grandchildren: Christopher and Jeremy McLaren, Ericka Guin, Cathy Jo Tannehill, Chad, Matthew and Amanda Pratt, five great grandchildren and well as several special nieces and nephews. A memorial service and celebration of life for Jim Gin will be scheduled at a later date.

Virginia L. Rolen

Virginia L. Rolen, age 85 of Franklin, TN passed away on April 25, 2018. She was a long time member of the Christ Church Choir. Mrs. Rolen was preceded in death by son, Timothy Rolen; & sister, Gracie Vargas. She is survived by husband of 68 years, Dr. Charles O. Rolen; sons, Charles “Chuck” Rolen, Jonathan “Jon” Rolen, Philip L. Rolen & Joel A. Rolen; grandchildren, Sonya M. Mayuric, Christina L. Anders, Andrew P. Rolen & Matthew D. Rolen; great grandchildren, Steven, Kaylee & Kelsey; sister, Earlene Boyett; & brother, Earl Long, Jr. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, HICKORY CHAPEL, 5852 Nolensville Road. Interment followed in Christ Church Memorial Gardens. Family served as Pallbearers.

Donnie Rae Peloquin, 91, of El Paso, Texas passed away peacefully on April 20, 2018 while surrounded by her loving family and longtime friend Chita. Donnie was born in Dodson, LA on June 14, 1926. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Russell Peloquin; her mother, Bessie Barrett Sullivan of Gordonsville, VA, her father, Charlie Waller of Dodson, LA, and great grandson Wyatt Schmidt. Donnie retired from EPISD with having worked at Magoffin and Lee Schools. She is survived by son Philip Peloquin, Oxford, NC and daughters Linda Razloznik (Dean Travis), El Paso, Texas, Jeanne Worley, Denver, CO and Kathy Surratt, El Paso, Texas. Grandchildren Troy Peloquin, Stacy McCurry, Brooke McIlroy, Nicole Ramirez, Kyle Razloznik, Ryan Razloznik and Dylan Surratt. Great grandchildren McKenzie Vlack, Ashlyn Keller, Olivia McIlroy, Aiden Razloznik, Harper Razloznik, Evan Ramirez and brother, Ricky Waller of Dodson, LA. Meme you will remain in our hearts forever.

Mrs. Patsy Vines Hemphill, age 71 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018. She was born October 31, 1946 in Dodson, Louisiana and was an active member of East Winnfield Baptist Church where she loved her Grace Sunday School class. Patsy will be remembered as a caring wife, mother, sister and friend to all who knew her. But most importantly, she will always be remembered as “Mawmaw” to her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hemphill was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Quincy Hemphill; father, LE Vines; mother, Pauline Lasyone Vines; brothers, Jerry Vines and Loyd Vines; sister, Sammie Vines Fowler.

Mr. Weyman Rodney Brantley

Mr. Weyman Rodney Brantley, age 80 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018. Born Saturday, March 19, 1938 in Goldonna, Louisiana, he was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church and owned and operated a tractor dealership for a number of years. After retiring, he was a dispatcher at the Winn Parish Sheriff’s Office under the administrations of Sheriffs Buddy Jordan and Cranford Jordan. Mr. Brantley was preceded in death by his parents, Felton P. Brantley and Bertye B. Williams Brantley; siblings, Ray Brantley, Patsy Anderson and Lamourie Eaves. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 61 years, Shirley Branch Brantley; daughter, Kim Lynne Brantley and husband William G. “Bill” Kelley; nieces and nephews, Janis Eaves, Patricia Brewer, Patrick Yancey, Scott Yancey and Patrick Yancey. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Prince officiating.

Mrs. Ethel Beatrice Killen, age 95 of Houston, Texas passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018. Born Thursday, December 28, 1922 in Stamps, Arkansas, she was preceded in death by her parents, Arthor and Willie Harrison Bright; daughter, Barbara Andrews; and husband, Walter Killen. Beatrice was a homemaker who did numerous arts and crafts. She lived in Winnfield Louisiana for over 60 years and was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church. After Walter passed away she stayed in Winnfield for 12 years. She spent the last ten years in Houston Texas with her daughters, Kathleen and Peggy.

Mr. Max Dale Smith

Mr. Max Dale Smith, age 73 of Sikes, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Born Thursday, September 28, 1944 in Urania, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Maxel and Ruby Jenkins Smith; son, Bryan Smith; granddaughter, Suzanne Miller; and brothers, Wayne and Bobby Joe Smith. Max enjoyed riding his motorcycle and farming peas and watermelons. He was a member of the Sikes Apostolic Church. Max was a conversationalist who never met a stranger. He had a kind heart and was family oriented and absolutely loved his grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jan Smith, Sikes, LA; daughters, Tanya Clark (Tigger), Carlyss, LA, Dana Smith (Nicole), Shreveport, LA, and Ashley Carson (Seth), Winnfield, LA; grandchildren, Heather, Kendall, Gage, Max, and Maisy; great grandchildren, Trenton, Alijah, and Aidan; sister, DeLynda Womack (Lane), Sikes, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Katherine Joan Beaubouef

Home Going services celebrating the life of Katherine Joan Beaubouef will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville, with Brother Shane David officiating and a Family Reading by Willie Beaubouef. Burial will follow in Frazier Cemetery, Prospect. Visitation will resume on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Pallbearers honored to serve are James Honeycutt, Ryan Honeycutt, Alajandro Ducote, Robert Jones, Doug Phillips and Cleveland Dodge. Honorary pallbearers are Darren Phillips, Bruce Phillips and Lee Jones. Katherine Joan Beaubouef, 78, of Alexandria, passed from this life on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Rapides Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Katherine attended Word of Grace Church. During her working career she was a Resident Training Assistant for Pecan Grove Training Center. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
