Dennis Willard (Buddy) Taylor was born August 2, 1925 and died March 28, 2018 at the age of 92 years 7 Months, and 26 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clint and Nettie Taylor; 3 brothers - Iley Taylor, Ray Taylor, and Archie Taylor; 6 sisters - Mellie Barton, Ivy Powers, Nobie Evans, Ella Mae Spikes, Katherine Jones, and Murline Whittington; 2 grandchildren – Jason & Jessie Taylor. Buddy was survived by his wife of 68 years, Annie Bell Taylor; 3 children, Jimmie Taylor & wife Lorraine, Wanda Taylor, Terry Taylor & wife Beverly; 6 grandchildren, Nikki Hanson, Amanda Rouse, Melanie McAllister, Lacey Hylton, Melinda Lummus, and Seth Taylor; 12 great-grandchildren, Alexis & Will Hanson, Lauren, Harleigh, & John Michael Rouse, Maddie, Drew, Kaitlyn, & Grace McAllister, Christian & Carter Hylton, and Emma Lummus; and one sister – Gloria Powell. Dennis (Buddy) Taylor was one of Clint & Nettie Taylor’s 12 children.

Mrs. Barbara Johnson McAllister, age 69 of Joyce, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018. Born Saturday, June 5, 1948 in Vicksburg, Mississippi, she was a member of Old Union Baptist Church for over thirty years where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She loved spending time with her family and especially spoiling her grandchildren. She was retired from Winnfield Kindergarten School. Mrs. McAllister was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie F. Johnson, Sr. and Rhoda Wempren Johnson; brothers, Jessie F. Johnson, Jr. and David Johnson. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Richard McAllister; children, James McAllister, Bruce McAllister and Brandy Coleman (Landon); grandchildren, Ashlan Desadier (Justin), Reese Coleman and Wren Coleman; great-grandchildren, Alex McAllister, Rickey Desadier and Spencer Desadier; brother, Lawrence Wempren.

Funeral services for Helen H. McDaniel Murphy, age 81, of Winnfield, were held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 24, 2018 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Larry Chapman officiating. Interment followed at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson. Helen McDaniel Murphy was born March 24, 1936 to the union of John Clark McDaniel and Johnnie Bridges McDaniel in Grayson, Louisiana and she passed from this life on March 21, 2018 at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. She loved her Council on Aging group, playing Bingo and POKENO. She enjoyed participating in the Senior Olympics. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Woodrow “Jap” McDaniel and Nathan McDaniel; and sister, Arlene McDaniel. She is survived by her sister, Merlene Mayfield of Bossier, Louisiana and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Sherwood Gilbert Thompson, age 77 of Montgomery, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018. Born Monday, December 16, 1940 in Dodson, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Shird G. Thompson and Edith Deese Thompson; wife, Glenda Thompson; daughter, Kimberly Wingart Thompson; brother, Mac Thompson. Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Ashley M. Ferrier (Cody), Brandon L. Thompson (Jessica), Jamie L. Thompson (Sarah) and Ray Clinton Boudreaux; step-daughters, Angela Barton (Travis), Kristie Hanneman (Jay) and Nikki Lavespere (Mike); siblings, Jerry Hennigan, Red Thompson and Kerry Hennigan Thomisee. Graveside funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Cypress Creek Cemetery of in Dodson with Reverends Willie Beaubouef and Melvin Lawson officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Charles “Chuckie” Richard Womack

Mr. Chuckie Womack, age 68, of Quitman went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 15, 2018. Mr. Womack was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was also an avid Saints and LSU fan. Mr. Womack was the greatest brother in the world. He was a truck driver who was known as Wood Chuck. Mr. Womack is survived by his mother, June Womack; his wife of fourteen years, Jody Womack; his children, James R. Womack, Chrystal Nelson, Joshua Leonard Womack (Claudia), Amanda Franks (Michael), Lauren King (Derek), Levi Jones (Samantha), Leslie Jones (Highway); grandchildren, Madison Nelson, Jess Nelson, Carter Nelson, Jacie Womack, Leanna Womack, Alyson Womack, Jake Womack, John Womack, Ella Gassiott, Michael Franks III, Kayleigh King, Presley Kate King, Aubree King; sisters, Linda Blount (Ellis), Kay Knox (Buddy Durbin); brothers, David Womack (Sharon), Tommy Womack (Velvet); sister in law, Tsune Womack and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Robert Joseph “Bob” Bannon

Mr. Robert Joseph “Bob” Bannon, age 73 of Georgetown, LA passed away Saturday March 17, 2018 at his residence in the company of his beloved family. Mr. Bannon loved and served his country as a member of the United States Navy. Mr. Bannon was a member of Zion Baptist Church where he had a special love for his Sunday School class. Mr. Bannon was a kind and generous man loved by all, but especially by children. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Robert Bannon and his mother Joyce Herrin Baillio and his step-father Douglas Cheek. Mr. Bannon is survived by his wife Martha Bannon of 48 years, his daughter Tiffany Hemphill (Jeff), his eldest son Bain Bannon (Cindy) and his youngest son Brandon Bannon (Jennifer) and eight grandchildren: Kelli, Kaleb and Karson Hemphill; Haley and Hannah Bannon; and Luke, Ryan and Lauren Bannon. Sister Jacqueline Mitchell (Lynn) and a beloved aunt Leona Wilson.

Elwyn G. Springfield, Sr.

Elwyn G. Springfield, Sr., age 83 of Monroe, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 after a lengthy illness. Elwyn originally lived in Winn Parish, where he retired from the Winn Parish Sheriff’s Office in 1976. He later moved to Monroe, where he retired from the City of West Monroe Public Works Department. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Monroe. Born Wednesday, April 11, 1934 in Jonesboro, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Neza Hammett Springfield; and wife, Nellie Faye Jordan Springfield. Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Roy L. Springfield (Susan), Houston, TX and Glenn Springfield (Michelle), Monroe, LA; grandson, Matthew Springfield (Lindsay), Monroe, LA, granddaughter, Ashley Buntyn (Russ), Sterlington, LA, grandson, Heath Springfield, Beaumont, TX, and grandson, Cole Springfield, Klein, TX; and 4 great grandchildren.

Jacque Daniel Pullig, 39 of Houston, Texas passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018. A near lifetime resident of Calvin, La, Jacque was born Sunday, July 2, 1978.  He was an avid outdoorsman and Graduate of Calvin High School.  Jacque was a loving father, protective brother and steadfast friend to many in the community he loved.  He honorably served the Army National Guard and was a pipeline operator with Local 406.  Though he worked the pipeline across the U.S., Jacque cherished family above all.   He is preceded in death by great-grandmother, Bertha Carter Weeks; grandmother, Carlene Weeks Williams; aunt Carolyn Sue Linton; and mother, Jeanne Diane Scott. Those left to cherish his memory include:  his son Jacob Pullig and daughter Jaydan Pullig of Calvin; grandfather, Jim Williams, of Calvin; brother Joseph Bonnette of Stewartsville, MO; and sisters, April Scott Gischel of Houston, TX; Ashlee Scott Martin and husband Kenny of Goldonna; Megan Pullig DeBusk; and Jamie Lynn Pullig.

Mrs. Aver Azzell Taylor of Dodson passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home in Winnfield. She was born August 25, 1919 and lived to be 98 years old. Left to cherish her memory are sons, Garland Taylor, Cordell Taylor and wife Carolyn; daughter, Renelda Taylor; grandchildren, Cecile Taylor, Kimberly Gresham, Timothy Taylor, Sarah Gresham; great grandchildren, Amber Thomas, Selby Gresham, Gavin Gresham, Gabrielle Gresham, Evan Taylor, Marcus Gresham, Sadie Claire Gresham; great-great grandchildren, Asa Walker, Emmett Thomas, Nolan Thomas, Maylee Gresham, Braddock Chandler; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by parents, Thurman William Moffett and Abbie Annielene (Solley) Moffett; husband, Hesley C. Taylor; sisters, Opal Stinson, Anna Belle Shows; brother, Author Lee Moffett. Friends visited with the family 1:00pm until 3:00pm Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Siloam Baptist Church in Gansville.
