Jimmy David McManus

Mr. Jimmy David McManus, age 73 of Atlanta, Louisiana entered his eternal home on Sunday, August 11, 2019.

He was born February 12, 1946 in Hope, Arkansas. He graduated from Atlanta High School in 1964 and went into the US Army serving in Fort Polk, LA, Fort Gordon, GA, Camp Casey, South Korea, Fort Hood, TX and Vietnam.

Jimmy was known for telling stories, cracking jokes and creating special memories for his children and grandchildren that included nicknames and rat parties. If you knew him, he probably gave you something new or something he owned. He loved helping others.

He was a member and deacon of Mars Hill Baptist Church and was part owner of Louisiana Forest Sawmill in Montgomery and finished his career with 17 years working as a correction officer at Winn Correctional retiring in 2015.

Mr. McManus was preceded in death by his parents, Noel Leonard McManus and Dora Sparks McManus; brothers, Jerry Doyle McManus and Richard Dick McManus.

Billy Gene Lucky

Mr. Billy Gene Lucky, age 82 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.

Born Sunday, February 7, 1937 in Goldonna, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by parents, Gladys Dean Lucky and Cosby Lucky; son, Billy Edward Lucky and granddaughter, Brittany Michelle Cummings. Mr. Lucky was a retired Chief Pipeline Inspector and member of the Goldonna Lodge and Yankee Springs Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening, and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Ora Jean Emmet Lucky; daughter, Ginger Cummings (Cody); grandsons, James Cody Cummings, Jr. (Tina) and Blake Edward Cummings (Caitlin); great grandson, Toliver James Cummings; daughter-in-law, Gwen Barrett Lucky; and stepgrandaughter, Lacey Russell (A.J.),

Memorial services were held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Lamar Carpenter officiating.

Mrs. Dolline (Womack) Droddy, age 79 of Jonesboro, went to her heavenly home Friday, August 9, 2019. Those left to cherish her memory is her husband, Claude Droddy; daughters, Cynthia Plunkett (Paul) of Raymond, MS, Pam Trosclair (Paul) Debra Johns

(Tommy); son, Claude Emmett Droddy (Lolly); brother, Robert Womack; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Charlotte Thompson; son, Mark Shane Droddy; grandson, Jason Alan Watson; parents, Emmett and Lavania (Rieson) Womack.

Friends visited with the family Sunday, August 11, 2019 from 1:00PM until time of service at Edmonds Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services began at 2:00PM in the chapel with Reverend Author Robinson officiating. Burial was in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Serving as pallbearers were Mrs. Droddy’s grandsons.

Betty Cockerham

Mrs. Betty Cockerham, age 79 of Hughes Springs, Texas passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.

Born Thursday, August 29, 1939 in Calvin, Louisiana, she was a member of First Baptist Church, Hughes Springs.

Mrs. Cockerham was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, Loyd Cockerham and her parents, James Murray Riffe and Rubye Gladys Riffe.

Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Leslie Fredrick of Winnfield, Louisiana; children, James and Nancy Cockerham of Marshall, Texas, Mitzi Crowson of Hughes Springs, Texas; grandchildren, Tim and Amanda Skaggs, Charles “Jeb” and Laikyn Crowson, Matthew and Kaitlen Stewart, Shelton and Kelly Sykes, and Aimee Cockerham; great grandchildren, Kayden, Kailee, Kaci, Matthew, Jackson, Jett, Arden, Margaret, and Amelia.

Mrs. Shirley Ann Moring Canerday, age 74 of Calvin, Louisiana passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019.

Born Monday, April 30, 1945 in Lillie, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, Coy and Minnie Lou Elkins Moring; brother, Joe Moring.

Mrs. Canerday was a member of Calvin Baptist Church where she was active with Mrs. Bird’s Sunday School Class. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 56 years, Bobby Canerday of Calvin; sons, Bobby Joe Canerday (Becky) of Campti and Jeff Canerday (Michelle) of Calvin; grandchildren, Ashley Wilson (Eric), Amber Canerday, Coy Canerday and Clay Canerday; great-grandchildren, Stetson Wilson and Blair Babers; sister, Sylvia Lawrence (Bobby) of Leadhill, AR; nieces, Therisa Clary and Mickey Turner; nephews, Coy Lawrence and Gerald Moring.

Mr. Lonnie Lee Corley Sr., age 72, of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away July 25, 2019, in Tioga, Louisiana after an extended illness.

Mr. Corley was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Corley and Martha “Mattie” Atkins Corley; wife of 38 years, Evelyn Varnell Corley; son, Steven Procell; and brothers, Charles Corley and Johnnie Corley.

Willie B. Butler

Mr. Willie B. Butler, age 91 of Tullos, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019.

Born February 7, 1928 in Gibsland, Louisiana, he was a retired auto mechanic, an avid gardener and was an active member and deacon of Calvary Baptist Church.

Mr. Butler proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Butler and Jewel Miles Butler.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 68 years, Georgia Couch Butler; daughters, Sherri Texeira (Frank) and Nancy Ricketts (Warren); grandchildren, Kris (Amy), Isaac (Melissa), Windi (Keith), Lori (Jason), Ashley (Mike) and Brittani; fourteen great-grandchildren; brother, Charlie Butler (Glenda); sisters, Margie Brent (Lucky) and Betty Spears; and a host of nieces and nephews and special neighbors, Monty and Marty Atkins.

Mary Pearl Stark

Mary Pearl Stark, born on September 30, 1948, in Sherman, Texas, passed away after a strong battle against pancreatic cancer.

Family was the most important to her and it started with her marriage. Mary and Bill said, “I do” in Vinton, Louisiana on December 26, 1966. They were blessed with nearly 53 years of marriage.

Mary was preceded in death by brothers Roland and David McBride. And sister Joyce Franklin. Mary is survived by her husband, William (Bill) Stark, siblings Lloyd McBride, Hazel McBride, and Cheryl Donovan; daughters Carolyn Deardorff, and husband Gary, and Marjorie Barrilleaux, and husband Clay. Her grandchildren Alicia Yarrish, and husband Teylor, and Alex, Arianna, and Sasha Barrilleaux; Mary also leaves behind a great-grandchild, Greyson Yarrish, to remember her love. Numerous nieces and nephews are left with memories of her personality as well.

Rachel Lea Walker

A Celebration of Life Service for Rachel Lea Walker was held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, in the Sanctuary of Trinity United Methodist Church under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Reverend Dr. Juliet Spencer and Reverend Leslie Stephens officiated. Visitation was held at Trinity in the Sanctuary on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 5:00 -7:00 PM.

Rachel was born September 23, 1975, in Monroe, Louisiana, and passed away, July 19, 2019. She grew up in Winnfield, Louisiana, and married Jason Walker, also of Winnfield, on July 11, 1998. Their daughter Kate was born in June, 2003. Rachel’s greatest love was her family.

Rachel is survived by her husband of 21 years Jason; daughter Kate; parents Helene and Jimmy Walker; parents-in-law Chris and Bo Walker; her brother Drew; brother-in-law Kevin; sister- and brother-in-law Joliene and Ruddy Sosa; nieces Piper Sosa, Dottie Walker, and nephew Walker Sosa.
