Walter Lynn James, Sr.

Walter Lynn James, Sr., age 87 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019.

Born Wednesday, May 18, 1932 in Crowville, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtie Mixon James and Walter Edward James; his brother, Charlie Gene James; and his grandson, Justin Daniel James.

Mr. James was a member of Sikes Apostolic Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He was retired from many years of working in the timber industry as a log cutter.

U.S. Army Specialist Clayton James Horne

U.S. Army Specialist Clayton James Horne, age 23, of Atlanta, Louisiana, passed away doing what he loved, serving his country, on Saturday, August 17, 2019. He was deployed to Saudi Arabia with the 351st Military Police Company, 160th Military Police Battalion in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Clayton, born July 31, 1996, to Clay and Susan Horne, was soon promoted to big brother after welcoming his little sister, Caitlyn Elizabeth (Caity) Horne into the world. Clayton and Caity shared a special bond, not only as siblings but also as best friends; a bond that took them on many adventures.

Billy M. Dickerson

Billy M. Dickerson, 94, died August 17, 2019, at Farmington, MO. He was born at Winnfield, Louisiana, a son of Hannah (Porter) and Olan Dickerson. He married Frankie Ann Allen on December 16, 1945.

Billy, a World War II veteran, was a member of the “greatest generation,” as he enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1963. During his Navy career he was assigned to Naval Aviation on carriers and was also stationed in Kodiak, AK; Pensacola, FL; Providence, RI; San Diego, CA; Honolulu, HI; and Memphis, TN. After his retirement from the Navy, the family lived in Sikeston, MO, where he worked for 20 years as a vocational electronics instructor for the Sikeston Public School system. Billy’s hobbies were hunting and fishing, especially at his beloved Saline Lake in Winn Parish.

Theresa Marie Bazar

Ms. Theresa Marie Bazar, age 59 of Atlanta, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2019.

Born Wednesday, September 23, 1959 in Longview, Texas, she worked for many years in retail management. Theresa enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and had a great love for horses. She also cherished her family.

Ms. Bazar was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Nina McClellon Bazar; brother, DeWayne Bazar; nephew, Brandon Cawthon.

Those left to cherish her memory include the father of her children, Galan Ferguson; son, Jared Ferguson (Nicole); daughter, Lisa Duff (Clay); brother, Floyd Bazar (Elaine); sister, Eva Cawthon; 10 grandchildren, Stefanie, Cameron, Sydney Claire, Logan, Shayna, Owen, Anna, Jalan, Justin and Cody; 3 great grandchildren, Deilyah, Daxx and Kitt Ferguson; host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Paul Roberson

Mr. Paul Roberson, age 71 of Calvin, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home in Winnfield.

Mr. Roberson was a native of Winn Parish and an Electrician. He was U. S. Air Force Veteran of Vietnam, was retired from West Frazier in Joyce after 43 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Calvin. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman and enjoyed reading.

Mr. Roberson was preceded in death by his father Edward Andrew Roberson. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 52 years Beverly Anderson Roberson, son Cade and his wife Kimberly, daughter Geneva and her husband Quin Durbin, his mother Pauline Folden Roberson, and grandchildren Elizabeth Durbin, Alexander Durbin, Jackson Roberson, He is also survived by his sisters Vida Monnin, and Deborah Gilcrease and her husband Butch, and his brother Kermit Roberson and his wife Jenny.

Jimmy Dell Temple, age 77, of Hartman AR., died on Friday, August 9, 2019, in Fort Smith, AR. He was born January 4, 1945, in Quitman, LA. Mr. Temple’s memorial service will be Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 2:00 P.M at Roller-Cox Funeral Home in Clarksville, Arkansas.

Funeral Services celebrating the life of Brenda Grigg Zastrow were held Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St, Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation was held at the Marshall Street Chapel from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. A private family graveside service followed.

Brenda Grigg Zastrow was born August 8, 1953 in Jonesboro, Louisiana to Lawson Grigg and Charlotte DeWeese Grigg and passed away August 8, 2019 in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and niece, Yvette Floyd.

Dalton Edward McQuillin, age 24 of Campti, Louisiana passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019. Born Tuesday, February 21, 1995 in Alexandria, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Milford Manasco and Della Pullum; uncle, Robert Manasco. Dalton was a 2014 graduate of Calvin High School and was employed as an equipment operator with West Fraser Operations in Joyce. He loved his family dearly, particularly his daughter, Hayven, whom he cherished. Dalton was known for helping others and was a daredevil, always willing to try anything and enjoyed fishing and playing his video games.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter and the center of his world, Hayven Aubrey McQuillin; mother, Terri Manasco McQuillin; father, Ronald and Wendy McQuillin; siblings, Dustin McQuillin, Lindsey Johns, Dylan Johns and Brianna Norris; paternal grandparents, Richard and Evelyn McQuillin; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Donald Ray Chandler

Mr. Donald Ray Chandler, age 79 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019.

Born Tuesday, June 11, 1940 in Winnfield, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jaye Lou Chandler; parents, Wendell and Callie Jones Chandler; brother, James Chandler.

Mr. Chandler was a member of Winnfield First United Methodist Church and served as a medic in the US Air Force from 1958-62. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and in his younger days, all aspects of rodeo.

Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Bobby Joe Chandler; nieces and nephews, Callie Elizabeth Chandler, Cale Chandler, Craig Chandler and Steven Chandler.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 19, 2019 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Smith officiating. Interment followed in Winnfield City Cemetery.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 AM until time of services.
