Mr. Larry Warren Baker, 79, a resident of Abbeville, La. and native of Temple City, Calif. passed away peacefully at Lafayette Regional Medical Center on Monday, Sept. 30 surrounded by loved ones.

Larry was an avid and loyal Saints and LSU fan who also enjoyed woodworking, travelling and spending time with his family. He especially loved attending family get-togethers, going antiquing with his daughters and spending time at home with his wife and their Sphinx cat, Spirit. He also reigned as King Rotary XXXII of the St. Martinville Rotary Club Mardi Gras Ball.

Larry was passionate about caring for the elderly. He worked for many years as a nursing home administrator, serving two years as an officer for the Louisiana Nursing Home Association. For the past 20 years, he has been the director of programs and personnel for the Lafayette Council on Aging, working right up until his illness no longer allowed him to do so.

Mrs. Anna Bell Taylor, age 98, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019. She was born In Calvin, LA and attended school there. Anna Bell grew up in the Depression Era, and her happiest memory during that time was being named All-State Forward for the Calvin High School basketball team.

In her adult life, she was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She had a green thumb, and could grow anything with the help of the Farmer’s Almanac. In her later years, she was proud of being able to mow her two-acre yard on a riding lawn mower. In the last phase of her life, she was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles.

Anna Bell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield, LA, and a friend to everyone she met.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great- great-grandmother.

Walter Lynn James, Sr., age 87 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019.

Born Wednesday, May 18, 1932 in Crowville, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtie Mixon James and Walter Edward James; his brother, Charlie Gene James; and his grandson, Justin Daniel James.

Mr. James was a member of Sikes Apostolic Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He was retired from many years of working in the timber industry as a log cutter.

Ms. Rheanee Horn, age 57 of Montgomery, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2019.

Born Wednesday, August 29, 1962 in Lone Star, Texas, she was preceded in death by her father, James Harry Horn; and sister, Heather Lynn Horn.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Dwayne Kilpatrick (Kimberly Flynn); mother, Jeanette Horn; brothers, Jimmy Horn (Kellie) and Richie Horn (Donna); sisters, Jayme Freeman (James) and Suzanne McBride (Bubba),

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Union Hill Baptist Church near Montgomery, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM , and again on Thursday, September 12, 2019, from noon until time of services.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Union Hill Baptist Church with Reverends Lee and Scott Tilton officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Mr. Larry Wayne Dearman, age 75 of Winnfield, La., passed away Friday, September 6, 2019 at his residence. Mr. Dearman, born August 14, 1944 in Memphis, TN, was a member of South Winnfield Baptist Church and was retired from Shell Oil and Gas Company. He was a U. S. Veteran of the Airforce and was a Master Mason and a proud NRA member. He was past owner of L&H Western Wear, was a Nascar enthusiast and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mr. Dearman was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Zula Robbins Dearman.

Born Monday, August 29, 1938 in Dodson, LA, he was preceded in death by his parents, Rhuey Stewart Austin and Evan W. Austin; son, Malvin “Buddy” D. Austin; sisters, Lurline Skipper, and Hope Weeks; brothers, Harley Austin and Eugene Austin; nephew, Mike Austin; nieces, Lori Thompson and Brandi Parker.

Mr. Austin was a member of the Zion Baptist Church. A 21 years veteran of the National Guard along with 18 years with the DOTD and 29 year employee at Wal Mart.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 41 years, Patricia Ann Austin; sons, Bruce Austin (Syrina), and Kenneth Evans; daughters, Angela Gunter (Sam), Angie Rush (Keith), and Marci Austin; brother, Charles Austin; sister, Evie Sue Jones; 17 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews,
