Walter Lynn James, Sr., age 87 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019.

Born Wednesday, May 18, 1932 in Crowville, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtie Mixon James and Walter Edward James; his brother, Charlie Gene James; and his grandson, Justin Daniel James.

Mr. James was a member of Sikes Apostolic Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He was retired from many years of working in the timber industry as a log cutter.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Geneva Ayres James; daughters, Debra Ann James Hanson (Troy) and Cathy Lynn James Gray (Terry); sons, Tony Dewayne James (Linda) and Lynn James, Jr. (Lisa); grandchildren, Ragen, Quinton, Tanya, Brent, Destiny, and Zachary; 14 great grandchildren; siblings, Billy Alton James, Margaret Ann James, Leroy Willie James, Lydia James Norwood, and David Paul James and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Southern Funeral Home with Reverends Mickey Parker and Terry Gray officiating. Interment followed in Friendship Cemetery, in Sikes.

Serving the family as pallbearers were Quinton Gray, Brent James, Zachary James, Marty Weeks, Jody James, and Lance James. Honorary pallbearers were Michael
