Judy Lorene Walker of The Dalles, OR passed away of heart failure on Feb. 5, 2020 in Portland, OR at OHSU Adventist Medical Center. Judy was born in Winnfield, LA to William Lawson Walker, Sr. and Helen Mae Erskins Walker on Oct. 14, 1944. She was the fourth child of five.

She leaves behind her sister Jan Abrams of Salem, OR, her son Bill Burton, Jr. and wife Tawnya of Castle Rock, WA, her son Robert Burton and wife Brenda of Winnfield, LA and her daughter Christina Burton Wilson and husband Westly of Oregon City, OR.

Her grandkids: Brenna Parrish, Garrett Burton, James Parrish, Austin Burton, Terrah Strobehn, Alyssa Vazquez, Kevin Burton, Connor Burton, Triston Strobehn, MaKayla Strobehn, Ian Burton, Riley Burton, Kristina Spino, John Thompson, Kaylyn Thompson, Anabella Wilson and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lynda Faye Sullivan Williams, age 80 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2020.

Born Tuesday, November 7, 1939 in Winnfield, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, Alec Lehman Sullivan and Essie Louise East Sullivan; husband, Donnie Williams; grandson, Derek Lowe; brothers, Dr. James Earl Sullivan and Lehman Russel Sullivan.

As a young wife, Lynda started out working at various jobs in Winnfield. But in 1967, she found her true calling. She and Donnie purchased the Dairy Maid #2 - more affectionately known as “The Deuce”! She combined her love for cooking and the public to make “The Deuce” a huge success! So much so, she had to expand and Lynda’s Country Kitchen was born!

After 40 years operating the restaurant, she and Donnie retired. However, Lynda did not retire from baking her famous Red Velvet and Italian Cream Cakes. There are very few people in Winn Parish who have not eaten one of her delicious cakes!

Mrs. Helen Jordan Millican, age 85 of Pineville, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at The Oaks Care Center in Pineville.

She was born October 15,1934 in Winnfield, Louisiana, to parents, Monroe and Jessie Mae Jordan. Helen was raised in Winnfield and was a graduate of Winnfield High School class of 1953.

She raised her family in Pineville before moving to Houston after her marriage to Herman Millican.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Marilyn Smith O’Hare and Patricia Smith Hensarling; sisters, Rosa Vines and Faye Metcalf along with numerous nieces,nephews and extended family.

Mrs. Millican was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Herman Millican; Beloved son, Robert Smith; and parents, Monroe and Jessie Mae Ingram Jordan.

Visitation and a meal as held at the church on Saturday from 12:00 PM until time of services.

Mr. John "Pee Wee" Hardy Roane, age 66 of North Hodge, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2020. He is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly (Harvey) Roane; parents, Jack and Flora (Strickland) Roane; brothers, Woody Roane, Dale Roane.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Chris Roane (Laura), Jeremy Roane, Matthew Roane, Daniel Roane, Tammy Kelley, Sarah Nolan; 18 grandchildren; brother, James Roane; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the family Friday, February 14, 2020 at Edmonds Funeral Home from 12:00-2:00PM. A graveside service will be held at 3:00PM in Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Reverend Sarah Ingram officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Matthew Roane, Daniel Roane, Tyler Cunningham, Kenneth Harvey, Jacob Coker, Gary Cox.

Mrs. Nellie Marie Harvey, age 90 of Quitman, passed through the heavenly gates Tuesday, February 11, 2020 after a brief period of declining health. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was most happy when she could get outside and dig in the dirt in the Spring. Mrs. Nellie loved to work in her yard and flower gardens.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Higginbotham; nephew, Timmy Wheat; niece, Michelle Oglesby; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.C. Harvey; grandson, Steven Higginbotham; parents, William Edward and Rosa Lee (Atkins) Loe; sisters, Jessie Wheat, Elsie Mann; son-in-law, Glenn Higginbotham.

Graveside services will be held Friday, February 14, 2020 at 1:00PM in Mt. Olive-East Cemetery, near Quitman, with Reverend Wayne Morrow officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home.

Mrs. Kristi Massi Willhite passed away Saturday, February 8, 2020 at her residence in Shreveport. Mrs. Willhite was a loving wife, mother, sister and a friend to many. She loved spending time with her family and loved dogs.

Friends may visit with the family 5:00PM ~ 7:00PM Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro. Immediately following visitation, funeral services will begin at 7:00PM.

Bro. Gary Lynn Wright, age 72 of Georgetown, Louisiana passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020.

Born Sunday, June 8, 1947 in Olla, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Beulah Mae Hemphill Wright and Elbert James Wright.

Gary was known far and wide for his storytelling. Gary began honing that skill while making his classmates laugh at GHS, working the oilfield, and through the airwaves driving a log truck going by the CB-handle…Bull-Moose.

Later in life, his story would eternally change when he accepted Christ as his Savior. Called to preach, Gary would find his life’s passion telling the greatest story every told. He would spend hours in personal study, one-on-one discipleship, teaching small group, preaching Bible Conferences, serving as interim pastor at several Baptist churches and just fellowshipping with fellow ministers.

Lynda Williams passed away Saturday, February 15, 2010. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service times at 11 a.m. at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield, LA.

Tammy Rowell Gill, age 55 of Winnfield, LA went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, LA. She was born Saturday, October 3, 1964 in Odessa, Texas. Tammy, along with her family, moved to Moss Bluff, LA in 1977, later becoming a graduate of Sam Houston High School and going on to attend Sowela Community College. Tammy enjoyed shopping, traveling, and spending time with her family at the camp. Tammy lit up every room she walked into, treated everyone she met like family, and her love will be greatly missed by all.

Tammy was preceded in death by her parents, Betty J. Smith Rowell and Gerald G. “Spunky” Rowell; maternal grandparents, Clorea Richardson Smith and Willie L. Smith; and paternal grandparents, Obera and Theodore Rowell.

Marlene, at the age of 78, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Saturday, February 15, 2020. She was born in Baton Rouge, La but was a longtime resident of Winnfield. Marlene was known for her love of shopping and tending to her flowers in her garden. She absolutely loved her family and always brought smiles and laughter to family gatherings. She enjoyed cooking so much that in her spare time she could be found reading cookbooks. Marlene was a one of a kind lady who will deeply be missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Frazier Faust (Errol); son, Joseph Michael Frazier (Cheryl); brother, Robert L. White (Carmen); grandchildren, Hunter Michael Freeman, Garrett Michael Freeman, Sara Ashley Faust, Hannah Elizabeth Faust, Justin Culbertson, Jarrod Culbertson (Melanie) and four great grandchildren.

Marlene is preceded in death by her husband, Jospeh Michael Fazier.
