Ilalene W. Howard

Funeral services for Ilalene W. Howard were held on Monday, June 22, 2020, in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Pineville, with Reverends Tim Hisaw and Charles Hutzler officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Chapel in Williana.

Ilalene Williams Howard, of Tioga, born June 15, 1930 in Williana, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, June 20, 2020 at Tioga Community Care Center, at the age of 90.

Mrs. Howard was a native of Williana, La. She was a member of Alpine Baptist Church. She worked at AT&T as a Telephone Operator where she retired after 30 years. After retiring she worked another 13 years at Cleco as a Dispatcher. She had many hobbies such as gardening, quilting, cooking and many more. She truly loved being in her yard working. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Mrs. Debra K. Zimmerman, age 61 of Coushatta, Louisiana passed away in Shreveport after a long illness on Wednesday, June 10, 2020.

Born Tuesday, December 9, 1958 in Spring Hill, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, Orland and Lillie Jordan.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Mike Zimmerman; children, Brandon “Bo” DeBusk (Megan), Jennifer Roberts (Hardy), Brent Zimmerman (Heather) and Josh Zimmerman (Jamie); brother, Mike Jordan; nephew,Clint Jordan (Bailey); nieces, Harley Glaze (Kevin), Kim Statham (Jason), and Krystal Jordan; and seven grandchildren, Cole, Annalynn, Ali, Aiden, Andrew, Caston and John Orville; special lifelong friend, Derlene Warren-Barnett and her loved fur babies, Mattie, Sadie, Zoe and Beaux.

The family received friends on Saturday, June 13, 2020, at Southern Funeral Home, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM , and again on Sunday, June 14, 2020, at Southern Funeral Home, from 12:00 PM until time of services.

Mrs. Johnnie Jeraline Canerday Shelton, 86, passed into the loving arms of her Savior on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. Graveside services with Rev. Lamar Carpenter and Rev. Billy Verhoef officiating was held at Bethlehem Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Pallbearers were Ronald D. Canerday, Ricky Blake, Wayne Moore, Jake Roberts, Dane Files and Aaron Mueller.

Lewis Edward Dempsey Jr.

Mr. Lewis Edward Dempsey Jr., age 57 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Christus Highland Hospital in Shreveport.

Mr. Dempsey was born, August 24, 1962 in New Iberia, Louisiana and was a Correctional Officer at Winn Correctional Center for 19 years where he earned the rank of Lieutenant. He didn’t have children of his own but loved spending time with his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching old western and war movies as well as visiting with friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis Edward Dempsey Sr. and Marcella Porter Dempsey.

Mrs. Brenda Folden “Sissy” Wright, age 58 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020.

Born Sunday, June 11, 1961 in Winnfield, she was retired as a private sitter.

Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by her parents, Carlie Ray and Marilyn Shows Folden; husband, Robert Daniel Wright; grandson, Landon Wright; brothers, Marvin, Jimmy and Harry Folden.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Betty Snelling, Clint Wright, Robert “Booger Red” Snelling and Irene Fowler; grandchildren, Robert, Shaelyn, Cortney, Maddison, Renee, Austin, Dalton and Sawyer; greatgrandchild, Landon Delane Wright, Jr.; brother, Hank Folden (Debbie); long-time best friend, Everette Sanchez; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 5, 2020 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Tilton officiating. Interment followed in Corinth Cemetery, in Jordan Hill.

Lisa Ann Livings Skipper, age 51 of Natchitoches, passed away Monday May 25, 2020. She was born November 20, 1968 and was a private sitter/care giver in the healthcare field and enjoyed her church, spending time with family and helping others.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law John Stroud.

Survivors include her children Aaron Stroud (Destiny) and Erica Stroud; grandchildren Ellie Stroud and Griffin Sharp; siblings, Regina, Scott, Allen and John Taylor. Friends visited with the family in the Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield, Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness of Natchitoches.

Mrs. Murlene Thompson Carpenter, age 91 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020.

Born Saturday, November 24, 1928 in Jonesboro, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, Julie Lasyone Thompson and Harrison Thompson; husband, Joseph Thurman Carpenter; brother, Clifford H. Thompson; and great grandson, Roy William Brossett, III.

Mrs. Carpenter was a member of Antioch Bible Way Church and enjoyed cooking and crocheting.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Lloyd R. Carpenter and wife Jackie, and Joseph Stephen Carpenter and wife Sherry; daughter, Barbara Meeks and husband Wady; grandsons, Ernie Denis and wife Trenia, Ken Carpenter and wife Kelly, Joseph Carpenter, II and wife Tonie, Joey Denis and wife Misty, Jason Carpenter and wife Rachal, and Casey Carpenter; granddaughters, Julia Denis, Tammy Collingsworth and husband Clint, and Kristan Muse and husband Jim; and 14 great grandchildren.

Mrs. June Cockerham Sanders, age 78 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020.

Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth Buster Carpenter and Loreese Carpenter, her husband Clyde Sanders, son Frankie Tolbert, grandsons Cole Sanders and Justin Sanders, and brother Kenneth Carpenter.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons Michael Sanders (Alicia) of Calvin, David Sanders of Winnfield and Kevin Sanders of Winnfield. She is also survived by grandchildren Nicole, Kirsten, Madison, Krislyn, Karly and great-grandchildren Nevaeh, Nalani, Kailynn, Kyler, Korbyn, Parker, Koe, Bradliee and Kinley. Siblings are Eugene Cockerham, Annette Womack and Peggy Lodridge.

Amy S. Rowell Roark

Ms. Amy S. Rowell Roark, age 54, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020. She was born on Sunday, August 1, 1965. Ms. Roark lived and grew up in Winnfield, LA for most of her life. She lived a brief time in Havelock, NC and until the time of her death she lived in Waco, TX.

Amy was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She greatly enjoyed the outdoors and grew up helping her daddy tend to their cows. As she grew up, she passed her love for hunting and being outdoors to her children. One of her many highlights was lawnmower racing with her family. Amy wore many hats in life: wife, mother, daughter, but most of all her favorite was Meme. Her grandchildren were the lights of her life. She was beloved by all who met her and would do all she could for anyone.

Ms. Roark is preceeded in death by her parents, Thee and Margaret Rowell; sisters, Shirley Rowell and Vida Ann Rowell Oehler.
