Mrs. Murlene Thompson Carpenter, age 91 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020.

Born Saturday, November 24, 1928 in Jonesboro, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, Julie Lasyone Thompson and Harrison Thompson; husband, Joseph Thurman Carpenter; brother, Clifford H. Thompson; and great grandson, Roy William Brossett, III.

Mrs. Carpenter was a member of Antioch Bible Way Church and enjoyed cooking and crocheting.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Lloyd R. Carpenter and wife Jackie, and Joseph Stephen Carpenter and wife Sherry; daughter, Barbara Meeks and husband Wady; grandsons, Ernie Denis and wife Trenia, Ken Carpenter and wife Kelly, Joseph Carpenter, II and wife Tonie, Joey Denis and wife Misty, Jason Carpenter and wife Rachal, and Casey Carpenter; granddaughters, Julia Denis, Tammy Collingsworth and husband Clint, and Kristan Muse and husband Jim; and 14 great grandchildren.

Mrs. June Cockerham Sanders, age 78 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020.

Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth Buster Carpenter and Loreese Carpenter, her husband Clyde Sanders, son Frankie Tolbert, grandsons Cole Sanders and Justin Sanders, and brother Kenneth Carpenter.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons Michael Sanders (Alicia) of Calvin, David Sanders of Winnfield and Kevin Sanders of Winnfield. She is also survived by grandchildren Nicole, Kirsten, Madison, Krislyn, Karly and great-grandchildren Nevaeh, Nalani, Kailynn, Kyler, Korbyn, Parker, Koe, Bradliee and Kinley. Siblings are Eugene Cockerham, Annette Womack and Peggy Lodridge.

Ms. Amy S. Rowell Roark, age 54, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020. She was born on Sunday, August 1, 1965. Ms. Roark lived and grew up in Winnfield, LA for most of her life. She lived a brief time in Havelock, NC and until the time of her death she lived in Waco, TX.

Amy was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She greatly enjoyed the outdoors and grew up helping her daddy tend to their cows. As she grew up, she passed her love for hunting and being outdoors to her children. One of her many highlights was lawnmower racing with her family. Amy wore many hats in life: wife, mother, daughter, but most of all her favorite was Meme. Her grandchildren were the lights of her life. She was beloved by all who met her and would do all she could for anyone.

Ms. Roark is preceeded in death by her parents, Thee and Margaret Rowell; sisters, Shirley Rowell and Vida Ann Rowell Oehler.

Adam Heath Poisso, age 31 of Monroe, Louisiana passed away at Northern Louisiana Medical Center in Ruston, Monday May 11, 2020, after a tragic vehicular accident. Mr. Poisso was born in Ruston, Louisiana, August 1, 1988. He was employed as a security officer at Justice Security and through his job, often interacted with senior citizens whom he loved helping.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents James E. Poisso Sr. and Margie Hughes Poisso as well as his maternal grandfather James L. Moore Jr.

Mr. Raymond Nathaniel Parker, age 72 of Georgetown, Louisiana passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020.

Born Tuesday, January 27, 1948 in Winnfield, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Annette Redfearn Parker and father Ray Parker.

Those left to cherish his memory include his are his children, Greg Waxley (Mary), Tracy Zimmerman (Rex), Jennifer Breland (Benny) and Kyle Waxley, Ty Parker, Nat Parker (Tara), Kotye O’Neal (Joey); 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Mr. Parker enjoyed attending ball games with his grandsons and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband and father. He also was an avid hunter

A memorial service will be held at on a later date.

Services for Bonnie Sue Ingles will be at 11AM, Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Hurricane Grove Baptist Church, Sikes, LA with Rev. Mike Green and Rev. Dennis Baker officiating. Visitation was from 5PM until 8PM, Tuesday, May 26 ^th and from 10AM until time of service at 11AM, Wednesday, May 27 ^th at the church. Interment will be at Hurricane Grove Cemetery, Sikes, LA under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home, Alexandria.

Ms. Jewel Jones Taylor, age 85 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020.

Born Wednesday, February 6, 1935 in Winnfield, Louisiana, she was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was a retired private sitter. She was an avid LSU and Saints fan and an artist.

Ms. Taylor was preceded in death by her parents, Judge and Martha Hancock Jones; siblings, W.S. “Dick” Jones, J.E. “Roy” Jones, Lillie Mae Maxwell, Eunice Sandifer and her twin, Jerrell Jones.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Cecile Taylor; special sister-in-law, Evie Sue Jones; special nephew, Lavelle Bartley and her special niece, Betty Burnsworth, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at Southern Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Evans officiating. Interment followed in Jones Cemetery, in Winnfield.

Mrs. Elnora Collins Moffett, age 87 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, May 07, 2020.

Born July 28 1932 in Winn Parish, Louisiana to the union of George Washington Collins and Jammie Gladis Collins, she was a Mother, Grand Mother, Great-Grand Mother and GreatGreat Grand Mother. She worked various jobs over her life time, working at Martin Hospital as an aid and a cook, a sales clerk at Gibson’s Department Store and as a seamstress with Vasseret Manufacturing and Jonesboro Manufacturing. She had many things she loved to do, but spending time with her family and friends was tops on her list.

Mrs. Moffett was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Leon Moffett; brothers, JR Collins and David Collins; sisters, Sadie Collins and Sheron Collins Tingle; son-in-law, Edward L. “Butch” Hendley; daughter-in-law, Shelia Gail Wise Moffett.

Mr. Christopher James Leyda, age 27 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020.

Christopher was born Friday, October 23, 1992 in Monroe, Louisiana, and enjoyed his two dogs and playing his guitar.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Cathy Lynn Fatheree Deroche; paternal grandfather, Billy W Jordan; maternal grandfather, Jerry Fatheree.

Those left to cherish his memory include his father, James Leyda (Brenda); paternal grandmother, Lanell Jordan; maternal grandmother, Carolyn Fatheree; former wife, Sarah Horsely Leyda; half sister, Jessica Ates; step-sisters, Laura Morgan and Shelby Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Mrs. Margaret Lemmons Johnson, age 100 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020.

Born Thursday, November 27, 1919 in Lenapah, Oklahoma, she was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank M. Johnson; sons, Charles and Eugene Johnson; and 11 siblings.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Church of the Nazerene and was the last surviving of 12 children that were born to the union of Charlie and Margaret Maple Lemmons.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Frank J. Johnson (Winnie); daughter, Cindy Langley (Bill); 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at New Hope Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Gray officiating, under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Mrs. Johnson’s grandsons served as pallbearers.
