Johnnie Jeraline Canerday Shelton

Mrs. Johnnie Jeraline Canerday Shelton, 86, passed into the loving arms of her Savior on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. Graveside services with Rev. Lamar Carpenter and Rev. Billy Verhoef officiating was held at Bethlehem Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Pallbearers were Ronald D. Canerday, Ricky Blake, Wayne Moore, Jake Roberts, Dane Files and Aaron Mueller.

Jeraline devoted her life to being a wife, mother and grandmother. Her amazing love for her family was evident through her sacrifice, support, kindness, wisdom, devotion and energy. She was the rock of her family – a true Steel Magnolia. Her constant faith in her family gave them the confidence to succeed. Jeraline loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was witty, fun and smart. No problem was too big for her to solve. She was full of advice. Jeraline enjoyed Saline Lake, fishing, gardening, attending basketball and baseball games. Her most cherished hobby was cooking and baking. Jeraline was a very social person. She never met a stranger and engaged in conversation as if they were her lifelong friends, young and old. She was a prayer warrior, praying diligently for her family and friends. Her prayers will live on and continue to be heard by our Lord and Savior.

In Jeraline’s later years, she enjoyed talking and visiting with her family and friends. She most especially enjoyed reading to her great-great grandchildren. Jeraline was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and known to most as “NeNe.” Her enthusiasm for life and her legacy she leaves behind, will live on through her precious memory.

Jeraline was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Canerday, one brother, Jewel Canerday, her husband of 60 years, Jack Shelton, and one greatgrandson, Jack Dalton Mueller.

She is survived by her son, Rodney C. Shelton (Penny), her daughter, Ginger S. Mueller, grandchildren, Ashley S. Files (Mark), Landry L. Mueller (Ellen), Libbi Trawick (Kevin); greatgrandchildren, Jake Roberts (Lauren), Dane Files, Aaron Mueller, Lilly Lashley, Charlee Trawick, John Gabriel Mueller andNatalie Mueller and great-great granddaughter Emery Kate Roberts. She is also survived by her niece, Jackie C. Stanfill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvin First Baptist Church.
