On December 8, 2020 the glories of Heaven began to shine more brightly as our Heavenly Father, the angels and Lord Jesus Christ welcomed Miriam Elizabeth Wold. She was preceded in death by her parents Reverend Fisk Ray and Grace Ray. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Ted Wold of Winnfield, her son Todd Wold and wife Shelley Strong of Big Horn, WY, son Troy Wold and wife Janeana Wold and grandson Parker Wold of Monroe, and son Tracy Wold and wife Melissa Wold and grandson Ryan Nix of Jena. She is also survived by her sister, Betsy Clement and husband Dr. John Clement along with their children, daughter Jennifer and husband Taylor Mobley and son Jeffrey Clement of Pineville.

Mr. James Hobert Coe, age 80 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020.

Born Thursday, February 29, 1940 in Coushatta, Louisiana, he was a member of Christian Fellowship Church and was a retired lineman/electrician.

Mr. Coe was preceded in death by his parents, Glover and Elleace Britton Coe; wives, Judy McMillan Coe and Donna Sharp Coe; siblings, Willie Coe, Clover Coe, Jr., Sue Stewart and Dorothy Ayers.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Tony Coe, Stoney Barbo (Suzanne) and Christina Goynes (Dustin); grandchildren, Katie, Stoney, Dalton, Axel, Kaylee and Kennedi; greatgrandchildren, Levi, Lizzie, Lane and Linnie.

Graveside funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Hand Cemetery in Coushatta with Rev. Huey White officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Mr. James 0. "Jlynn" Atkins Jr. was born August 22, 1946 in Winnfield, La to the union of James 0 . Atkins Sr. and Yvonne Long Atkins. He passed away Monday; December 7th in Houston Texas. He loved his childhood. His father was a pipeline welder and they lived in various states while growing up. According to Jlynn, he got into mischief just about everywhere. Once he did not come home from School after Kindergarten class. He played on the playground with his friends. When he did go home the police was there and they talked to him about taking him to jail. He always made it home on time after that.

He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church. He joined the U.S. Army at age 17, spent a year in Korea and trained for jump school at Fort Benning, Ga. Later he transferred to Fort Campbell, Ky., served in the 101st Airborne, and later the 173rd Airborne after which h e was sent to Vietnam.

Kelly Leon Peterson, Jr., 78, died on Wednesday, December 2, 2020. Kelly was born in Winnfield, Louisiana on May 24, 1942. He spent his childhood in Winnfield and graduated from Winnfield High School. He went on to graduate from Northwestern State University with a B.A. in Science. His career path started out in Welding sales, and he retired his career as a Project Manager in the Oil & Gas Industry. Kelly was kind-hearted, wise, forgiving,
humble, loving, trustworthy, and always had a smile on his face. He was one of a kind, never met a stranger, and was everyone’s best friend. His children and grandchildren were his biggest blessing. He left a legacy of love that will always be treasured and carried on by his family!

Colonel Lyle W. Thompson, retired U.S. Air Force, passed away early on Sunday, November 15, 2020, at the age of 80 years. He died at home from complications
related to Parkinson’s disease.

Lyle was born on July 2, 1940, in Russellville, Arkansas, and raised by his parents, R.M. and Eula
Dover Thompson in Winnfield, Louisiana.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Louisiana State University, a Master of Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. His military education included Air War College, National Security Master Course; Air Command and Staff College; and Squadron Officer Course.

Col. Thompson served tours of duty with the Air Force in Del Rio, Texas; Rantoul, Illinois; Misawa, Japan; Viet Nam; New Orleans, Louisiana; Austin, Texas; Anchorage, Alaska; Hampton, Virginia; Homestead, Florida; and then back to Austin/ Bergstrom to retire before the base was closed and turned into Austin Bergstrom International Airport.

Mr. H. L. Caskey, Jr., age 95, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020.

Born Monday, May 4, 1925 in Mineola, Texas, he was an owner of Caskey and Son Welding and Caskey Drilling Companies. He retired from Caskey Logging and Pipeline and proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII.

Mr. John Glyn Jackson, age 94 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away at his home on Tuesday, November 24, 2020.

Born Friday, August 20, 1926 in Winnfield, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Pugh Jackson and Shirley Jackson; his wife, Betty Joe Purser Jackson; sons-in-law, Benny Wayne Long and James Michael Spangler.

Mr. Jackson was a charter member of the Crusaders for Christ Sunday School Class at the First United Methodist Church of Winnfield. He was a member of the Winnfield Rotary Club, the Northwestern State University “N” Club, and the Northwestern State University Hall of Fame.

Those left to cherish his memory include his three daughters, Joe Llaine Long, Lynn Spangler, and Dorothy Jeanne Brewton; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mr. Jackson was a member of the Louisiana Oil Marketer’s Association and was a 50-year Conoco Oil Jobber.

Mr. John Anthony “Tony” Sandifer, age 54 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020.

Born Thursday, May 26, 1966 in Winnfield, Louisiana, he was employed with Double K Logging, LLC and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. He enjoyed truck driving, family gatherings and holidays but above all spending time with his boys.

Mr. Sandifer was preceded in death by his grandparents, C. M. and Mae Robinson, Matthew Sandifer and Cloutie Gaspard; aunts, Inez Vaughn and Alice Bell; uncle, C. M. Robinson, Jr.; cousin, Susanne Martin.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, John Colton Sandifer and Jonathan Caleb Sandifer; parents, James E. Sandifer, Sr. and Carrie Robinson Sandifer; siblings, Rita S. Malone (Mark), James E. Sandifer Jr. (Carla), and Calvin W. Sandifer.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Laurel Heights Baptist Church, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

John Burton Simons, John Simons age 78, a resident of Brandon, MS passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at his home in Brandon, M S . Funeral services were held Saturday in Brandon, MS with an interment in Chatham Cemetery.

Mr. Simons was born November 13, 1941 in Columbia, Louisiana to Henry Silas Simons and Dorothy Bratton Butler. He was married to Shelby Jean Ledbetter on September 10, 1960 until her death on August 24, 2009. In 2010 John married Bobbie Davis and returned to live in his home in Sikes. Mr. Simons was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 8 years and retired from the United States Air Force Reserves in 2010, after 20 years of service. He loved his family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Miss Betty Jean LeBaron age 82 of Atlanta, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020.

Born on March 28, 1938 in Mars Hill, Louisiana, she is preceded in death by her parents Clifton LeBaron and Marie Dewitt LeBaron, her siblings and best friends, Alice and Bobby Wayne Horne, Susie and Frayne Smith, Bobby LeBaron and Charles LeBaron.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Jennie Annette LeBaron Stevens, sisters-in-law Joyce LeBaron and Vickie LeBaron. Betty was most proud of her many nieces and nephews as well as a host of great nieces and nephews.
