Doris Williams Pendarvis

Mrs. Doris Williams Pendarvis, age 76, was peacefully called home by her Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday evening, February 16, 2021, after many weeks of illness and covid complications.

She was joyfully met by those who preceded her in death: daughter Valerie Cook; infant grandson Joseph Todd Cook; brother Ed Williams; and parents Jack and Grace Elaine Williams.

Doris was born on May 20, 1944, in Winnfield, Louisiana. She was a lifelong resident of Beulah Community near Georgetown and a member of Beulah Baptist Church where she faithfully served in several capacities, including many years as pianist and Sunday School teacher.

Along with singing in the choir, one of her greatest joys was singing with her siblings at local churches and events as part of The Williams Family Quartet. Her clear, lovely voice will be among many things that will be missed by all who knew Doris.

Funeral services for Mrs. Robbin Renee Zimmerman Timmons were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2021 at One Life Church, 6250 Coliseum Blvd, Alexandria, La with Reverend Josh McElwee officiating. Private family burial was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Ball, LA under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home. Family requested all in attendance to please observe reasonable Covid-19 precautions and adhere to social distancing. For those who wished to attend this celebration but were unable to, there was a virtual option set up with One Life Church.

Mrs. Timmons entered eternal rest on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at her residence in Alexandria, surrounded by her loving family.

Bobby Ray Myers

Bobby Ray Myers, 75, of Montgomery, went to be with his Lord and Savior February 2nd, 2021.

Born June 23rd, 1945, a lifelong resident of Montgomery, La. Bobby was a logger by trade but a servant of the Lord by heart. As Deacon and Sunday School leader at New Salem Baptist Church, Bobby never missed an opportunity to spread the word of the Gospel. He was the ultimate image of how a Christian should lead their life. In December of 1971 he would marry the love of his life, Ruby Charlene. Being from a family with 11 siblings, Bobby had no problem becoming a great family man with 4 boys of his own. Never would you see Bobby without a smile on his face, and nothing could make him smile more than his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Weyman and Inez Myers; brothers, Ernest, WJ and Jesse Myers; brother-in-law, George Dement; and best friend, Buford Pinder.

Robert Dean Barron

Mr. Robert Dean Barron, age 93 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021.

Born Thursday, October 27, 1927 in Ashland, Louisiana, he was a WWII veteran having served in the US Army and was retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation.

Mr. Barron was preceded in death by his parents, Eugie and Pearlie Mae Pullen Barron; wife, Margie Long Barron; daughter, Dorothy Gilcrease; brothers, Jack Barron, Drew Barron and Alton Barron.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lucille Wright Barron; children, Randy Barron and wife, Rachel, Monty Jordan and Marshall Jordan; grandchildren, Bonnie, Gay Lynn, Trey, Colt, Cody and Valrie; eight greatgrandchildren; and brother, James Barron.

Graveside funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Zion Hill Cemetery with Bro. Rayford Riley officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winfield.

Ralph Wright Jenkins

Mr. Ralph Wright Jenkins, age 59 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021.

Born Wednesday, July 19, 1961 in Dallas, Texas, he was preceded in death by his father, George Wright Jenkins; siblings, George Jenkins, Wesley Jenkins and Paula Jenkins.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lori Hubier Jenkins; Dallas Jenkins (Jami) and Meagan Jenkins (Bryan), Lynk Jenkins, Cody Cooke, Lacy Melder and Katelyn Granger; mother, Carolyn Samples Gaar; grandchildren, Beau, Belle, Parker, Rayley, Brooklyn, Ryder, Anna, Nixon, Paisley, Madilyn and Memphis; siblings, Shelby Gaar (Quanita) and Patti Yount.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Womack officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery, in Gaar’s MIll.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until time of services.

Funeral services for Melinda Adkins, age 38 of Ruston was held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Springhill Baptist Church with Bro. Chris Craig officiating. Interment followed in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.

Melinda was born on June 28, 1982 in Alexandria, LA and passed away peacefully on January 31, 2021 in Ruston, LA. She loved her husband, Jason and children, Jasmine, Lainey and Drake with all of her heart. Melinda devoted all her time and energy into her girl’s activities including track, cheer, school trips and more. She was their number one fan in all their activities. Melinda’s favorite place in the world was spending time with her family at Disney World and the beach. She loved her entire family with all of her heart.

Mrs. Janell Spangler Wolfe Simmons passed from this life on January 28, 2021 in Autumn Leaves Nursing Home of Winnfield, Louisiana. She was a homemaker and a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church. She was an avid flower gardener and enjoyed entertaining. She loved and served her Lord and Savior and was devoted to her church.

Those left left to cherish her memory are her husband Kenneth H. Simmons, three daughters, Sandra S. Mitchell, Sharyn J. Gregory (Stephen), Marsha L. Davidson (Craig). brother Jimmie R. Spangler (Elaine), sister Mary Nell Gregory (Billy), Five Grandchildren and Two Great-Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her first husband Thomas O. Wolfe, her parents Butler and Vada Gates Spangler, sisters Elouise Spangler, Dorothy Louise Spangler Powers, and Dollie Sue Spangler Worsham, brother R.G. Spangler.

William “Bill” Kelley

On Monday, January 18, 2021, William “Bill” Kelley passed away from complications associated with a stroke. He was 72 years old.

Bill is survived by his wife Kim L. Brantley, Sister Kerry Bradford, grandchild, great grandchildren, cousins, nephews and niece in laws. He was proceeded in death by his parents Theodore and Mary Sanders Kelley, bother Dale and daughter Nikki.

Bill was a Vietnam Veteran with the Navy, Aviation. Received 3 BS degrees from Northwestern. He continued to keep abreast with scientific discoveries, watched astronomical events with his telescope, and observed the space station as it passed over. He played the Question of the day with Alexia, every day. He ended his work career as the Director of Public Works with the City of Winnfield.

Wanda Kay “Cookie” Hayden Saucier

Mrs. Wanda Kay “Cookie” Hayden Saucier, age 71 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021.

Born Monday, January 23, 1950 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Kent Hayden; her husband, Warren B. Saucier; and her sister, Joyce Hayden Shirley.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Jeff (Shannon), Shannon, and Shawn “Dune”; her brother, Richard “Dicky” Hayden (Patty); her grandchildren, Jacie (David), Gage, Scout, Claycee, Chandler, Case, Chase, and Claire; her great grandchildren, Rhemi, Rorie, and Reese; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be announced by the family at a later date.

Mr. John Owen Jordan, age 88 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021.

Born Wednesday, September 21, 1932 in Jordan Hill, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Rhoda Bartley Jordan and Lawrence R. Jordan; brother, Harvie Jordan; sister-in-law, Ardell H. Jordan; and sister, Ruth Mae Jordan.

Mr. Jordan was a long time member of Big Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and music director. He was a founding member of the Pine Ridge Quartet. Mr. Jordan was a member of the Georgetown Masonic Lodge. He spent his working career as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. Mr. Jordan served his country in the United States Army.
