Carolyn S. Smith, 63, of Winnfield, LA passed away January 20, 2016. Funeral services were held January 30, 2016.

Mr. Walter Thomas Bartley, age 79 of Atlanta, La., passed away, Saturday, January 23, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Bartley was a native of Winn Parish, a U.S. Navy Veteran and was retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. Mr. Bartley was the son of Walter William Bartley and Mertie Barber Bartley. He was also preceded in death by three brothers Dennis Bartley, James Bartley, and G. W. Bartley as well as one sister Ollie Mae Bartley. Survivors include his wife of 58 years Angelene Barton Bartley, of Atlanta, La., son Vince L. Bartley (Donna), of Atlanta La., daughters Sharleen Bartley Gongre (Eddie) of Montgomery, La., and Khristy Bartley Bradford (Ken) of Montgomery, La., grandsons Thomas Edward Gongre, Justin Durran Gongre, Landon Ford Bartley, and Rodney Payton Bradford, great granddaughters Raelen Gongre, Rylee Gongre, Taylor Gongre, two sisters Mary Alice Mercer of Winnfield, La. and Melba Bartley of Alexandria, La. Mr.

Services for Gloria Jean Breland were held at 2 pm Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Fairfield Pentecostal Church with Rev. Kenneth Hyde officiating. Interment was in the Dry Prong Cemetery, Dry Prong under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home, Alexandria. Breland, 81, passed away Sunday January 17, 2016. She was a very faithful member of her church and loved her church family. Her love to her family was loyal and unconditional. “It’s like this, you flip it over and it’s like that.” –Gloria Breland. She was preceded in death by father, Sam Martin and mother, Blonnie Martin; brothers, Travis Martin, Harold Martin and Curtis Martin. Survivors include her daughter, Donna J. McLaughlin and husband Edward; son, Phillip L. Powell and wife Linda; grandsons, Harvey R. Thompson and wife Windy and Troy A. Thompson and wife Shannon, Keith Griffin and wife Cassie and Timothy Shaffer and wife Alecia; granddaughters, Gloria T. Thompson, Lauralyn N. Thompson and Angel F.

Mrs. Betty Jo Bordelon Williams, age 84 of St Maurice, Louisiana expired on Friday, January 22, 2016, at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her Father, Joseph O. Bordelon, her mother, Vera Branch Bordelon, a brother, James Bordelon, and her husband, J.D. Williams. Survivors include her five sons, Randolph Layne Williams, M.D. of Winnfield, Adrian Drew Williams of Natchitoches, Joseph Mark Williams of Bossier City, James Trent Williams of Monroe and Melvin Gregory Williams of Hawaii, Nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 23, 2016 in Mount Zion Cemetery of Montgomery, Louisiana under the direction of Southern Funeral Home, Winnfield. Mrs. Jerry Blake Caskey, age 81 of Brewton’s Mill, La., left this earth to join her Father in Heaven for eternal life on Friday, January 22, 2016. Funeral services were held Monday, January 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Yankee Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Don Privett officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Mrs. Caskey was a member of Yankee Springs Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert “Boots” Caskey, daughter Sarah Clark, parents George Isom and Sarah Harper Blake, and brother Nordine Robinson. Mrs.

Mr. Donald Ray Bruce, age 69 of Georgetown, Louisiana passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016. Don was born Tuesday, February 5, 1946 in Rochelle, Louisiana. He retired from the Colgrade Oilfield. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Mr. Bruce was preceded in death by his Parents, Odis and Lessie Townsend Bruce; Brother, Marion “Bud” Bruce; Nephew, Tony Bruce. Those left to cherish his memory include his Wife, Jeanie Mayo Bruce, Georgetown; Daughters, Dana Gaar (Carl), Larose, LA, Sara Tyler (John), Winter Haven, FL and Julie Mills (Brian), Georgetown; Grandchildren, Ashley, Keri, Glynn, Brad, Shelby, Cameron, Logan, Owen, Macy, Jacob and Seth and 3 Great-Grandchildren. Mr. Jimmie Dale Folden, age 58 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016. Born Thursday, February 28, 1957 in Jonesboro, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his Parents, Carlie Ray and Marylin Shows Folden; Sister-in-law, Ruth Folden; Brother, Harry Folden. Those left to cherish his memory include his Wife, Becky Holbrook Folden; Daughter, Rita Snelling (Darren); Son, Chris Folden (Salina); Brothers, Hank Folden (Debbie) and Marvin Folden; Sister, Sissy Wright; 6 Grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at The Family Church from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Friday, January 22 from 11 a.m. until time of services. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 22, 2016 at The Family Church with Rev. Joel Hines and Rev. Mark Thornhill officiating. Interment will follow in Corinth Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Mr. Jeremy Voyd Laughlin, age 46 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016. He was born Thursday, October 9, 1969 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jeremy will be fondly remembered as a kid at heart who enjoyed helping to coach his sons’ ball teams and spending time with his family and friends, particularly his children. Jeremy was a member of First Baptist Church where he was an active volunteer with the children’s ministry. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Sharil Smith Laughlin; Maternal Grandmother, Vaudine Smith; Maternal Grandfather, Russell Smith, Sr.; Uncle, Russell Smith, Jr.; Aunt, Kate Smith. Those left to cherish his memory include his Wife, Denise Blair Laughlin; Sons, Jeremiah and Christopher Laughlin; Daughter, Katie Laughlin; Father, Charles “Chuck” Laughlin and wife Nancy.
