Robert Leon Moffett

Mr. Robert Leon Moffett, age 87 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016. Born December 2, 1928 in Cypress Creek, Louisiana, he was a retired Winn Parish school bus driver for Dodson High School. He also was a pulpwood hauler, worked at a plywood plant and at Howard’s Conaco. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. Mr. Moffett was preceded in death by his parents, Hubbard Neander and Lou Auborn Borden Moffett; brother, John Linwood Moffett; son-in-law, Edward L. “Butch” Hendley; daughter-in-law, Shelia Gail Wise Moffett. Those left to cherish his memory include his Wife of 68 years whom he married April 14, 1948, Elnora Collins Moffett, Dodson; Sons, James Raymond Moffett (Sheila), Bastrop, Robert Waynon Moffett, Dodson and George Hubbard Moffett, Dodson; Daughters, Lenora Lynn Hendley, Dodson, Lynda Joyce Robertson (Gary), Dodson and Lisa Timmons, Dry Prong; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Helen Mildred Malloy

Mrs. Helen Mildred Malloy, age 88 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016. Born Thursday, February 9, 1928 in Sikes, Louisiana, she was an active member of The Church of Jesus Chirst of Latter-Day Saints where she was president of the Relief Society and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a native of Sikes and graduated from Northwestern State University with a B.S. in education. She taught school for five years and worked as a secretary for the law offices of James Womack for four years. Later, she owned and operated a Sears catalog store in Winnfield for thirteen years, and The Youth Shop of Winnfield for forty years. Mrs. Malloy was preceded in death by her Parents, Riley and Ola Abrams; Sister, Geraldine Abrams Womack and her husband, James Womack.

Huey V. Gates

Huey V. Gates passed away quietly on March 14, 2016. Mr. Gates was 85 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, three brothers, and grandson, Michael. He is survived by his loving wife Fannie, children, Tammy and Robert Sutton of Quitman, Tina and Jerry Morris of Crossett, AR, Terri and Myron Curry of Quitman, grandchildren, Jeremy and Monica Sutton, Kristen Sutton, Jonathan and Rayne McMillan, Amanda and Dex Robertson, Trae McMillan, Devin Curry, Leanna and Brandon Odom, Hannah Morris, Alex McMillan, and Hunter Curry. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Molly Sutton, Jonah Morris, Jack Sutton, brother/son Jerry Gates of Weston, brother Roy Gates of Kennedy, TX, many nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends. Mr. Gates served his country for 30+ years in the National Guard, managed Jonesboro Builders Supply until he retired. He was an avid gardener, but his greatest accomplishments were marrying Mrs.

Mr. Fallis, age 62, of Pollock, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Woodhaven Nursing Home in Pollock, Louisiana. Services will be announced at a later date and time. He is survived by one son, Timothy Wayne Tarver of Brookfield, Missouri; one brother, Ronald Fallis (Kathy) of Dodson; one grandson, Cody Wayne Tarver. A memorial service for Nettie LaVada Wilkerson Knight, will be held March 25, 2016 at Beech Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Winn Parish, LA with Bro. Mike Reed and Bro. Robert Cook officiating, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. She is survived by a son, Charles Wilkerson of Winnfield, LA and a granddaughter, Jaycee Maureen Wilkerson. Also left to mourn are two brothers, Johnny Ray Wilkerson and William Wilkerson both of Winnfield, LA; four sisters, Faye Wilkerson of Winnfield, LA, Gloria Folden of Winnfield, LA, Arvie Huckaby of North Hodge, LA and Ruth Morrison of Baton Rouge, LA. Many nieces and nephews are among those to remember her. Of the pleasures she had were her baking and cooking, which she was always ready to share, and her love to sit with elderly folk.

Jonathan Wayne LaCroix

Mr. Jonathan Wayne LaCroix, age 59 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016. Born Saturday, August 25, 1956 in Alexandria, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his father, James Edward LaCroix; and wife, Debra Ann Berry LaCroix. Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Elizabeth “Betty” LaCroix; sons, Jason LaCroix, Chad LaCroix, and Tyler LaCroix; 3 grandchildren; brothers, Merle LaCroix (Laurene), and Clay LaCroix; sister, Jennifer LaCroix Quitta (Eddie); and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Southern Funeral Home with Reverends John Holland and Steven Smithson officiating. Betty Jo Tomlinson Sydes

Funeral services for Betty Jo Tomlinson Sydes, age 84, of Ruston, LA were held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston, LA. Dr. Darryl Ferrington and Mr. Rusty Farrar will be officiating. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Betty was born October 28, 1931 in Ruston, LA and went to her Heavenly Home on March 6, 2016. She was a librarian at Louisiana Tech University. Betty loved crocheting, playing cards, fishing and collecting coins. Her greatest joy was in spending time with her family. Betty was lovingly known as Mamaw by her family. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost 42 years, Frederick Hansell Sydes, her baby sister Dottie Tomlinson Carpenter and her great-grandson Ayden Russell Farrar.
