Winnfield to be judged for “Cleanest City” on Friday

The City of Winnfield will be judged for the cleanest city contest on Friday, April 10. The Louisiana Cleanest City judges will be escorted by Winnfield Mayor Kiah Beville around noon on Friday, where they will drive through the entrance of the city on
Highway 167, and will then move through Main Street, Maple Street, and stop at the schools and the Winn Parish Library.

Bond Commission Subcommittee approves election

The Ad Hoc Election Subcommittee of the Louisiana State Bond Commission met on March 16 at 9:00 a.m. and included in their agenda was the road tax proposition that will be up for a vote in Winn Parish on May 2, 2015. The item, introduced as
“L15-121,” by the Winn Parish Police Jury, is described as a ½% sales tax, for a period of 10 years,  beginning July 1, 2015 for the purpose of improving, maintaining and repairing public roads and bridges.

The Winn Parish Medical Center won first place in the Winn Chamber of Commerce and Tourism’s “Parade of Pigs” contest. The “Hambulance” was picked by a team of judges chosen from the community. Second place went to the Pea Patch’s “Frankenswine,” and Honorable Mention was awarded to Relay for Life’s Dr. Seuss-inspired pig.

for the books, and they certainly did not disappoint. There were over 30,000 visitors to the hog dog trials over the five-day spectacular, making this one of Winn Parish’s largest attended public events in decades. Everything about the 20th
Uncle Earl’s was the biggest ever: the most spectators, the most vendors and the most dogs.

Winnfield named district’s cleanest city
