On September 23rd the first fundraiser will be held. Riders are invited to meet at the Winnfield Police Department at 9:00 a.m. to register for an approximately 115-mile ride. Kickstands will go up at 10:00 and the ride will be followed by a jambalaya lunch at the police department.

Winn Parish Residents Battle Harvey, Work To Help With Recovery

As a designated volunteer for the Cajun Navy, Winnfield resident Randa Connor could not simply sit back and watch people of our community, state, and neighboring Texas in their time of need. She and Chris Williams, also of Winnfield, have networked with area churches and are collecting items that flood victims need to help in recovery efforts. They have stressed that they will assist our local flood victims first, and then supplies will be moved to a shelter in Alexandria. From that location, remaining supplies will be transported to the Cajun Navy base in Lake Charles, who will handle distribution of those supplies.

4H And Winn Parish Show Stand For Peace With Pinwheels

In September 2001, the United Nations Resolution 55/282 declared the 21st of September of each year as the International Day of Peace and an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence. It is a day to inspire the next generation to become the peace makers of the future, inspiring positive action to take place in their homes, schools and communities. Peace Day changes behavior and encourages everyone to act peacefully everyday thorough out the year, so any action on Peace Day helps manifest support for community peace building around the world.

Winn Parish 4-H is inviting the public to show the world how our community stands for peace, by making Pinwheels for Peace. The pinwheels will be displayed at the 9/11 Memorial Service being held at the Winn Parish Library, Winnfield Branch on September 11, 2017, and will remain on display throughout the month of September in celebration of peace.
