Winn Parish Mourns Loss of “Krissy” With Hoffpauir Family

In a time of year when so many are celebrating, Winn Parish residents are mourning the loss of one of their own precious young people.

Following is a press release, which was issued by the Louisiana State Police Troop E Public Affairs Officer Daniel “Scott” Moreau.

“Natchitoches Parish–Last night, (Monday, December 18, 2017) a single vehicle crash killed a young teenager from Atlanta, Louisiana and seriously injured her passenger.

Local Student Graduates From LSU

The Winn Parish Enterprise received the following Press Release from LSU, and would like to recognize Winn Parish resident, Michael Derel Patterson for his accomplishment.

BATON ROUGE – LSU recognized 1,591 graduates at the university’s 294th commencement exercises on Friday, Dec. 15. LSU’s fall graduating class included the most degrees awarded to African American and Hispanic students during any fall semester.

Winnfield native, Terrion Kimble, is a rap artist known as Diotti Kartel. Several years ago, Terrion established “Kartel’s Helping” to begin giving back to his hometown community. This year marks the third annual Free Community Christmas Dinner.

Each Christmas, people of all ages and experience levels open the gift of a gun, and for some become first time gun owners. In the excitement of Christmas, sometimes the most basics of gun safety and the responsibility of safe gun ownership can be forgotten.

The first priority for any gun owner should always be safety. There are many valid reasons for owning a firearm, and it is crucial to remember that a gun is a weapon and must be handled responsibly. Most experienced gun owners know the basic rules of gun usage and ownership, but responsible gun ownership also includes taking preventative measures to ensure that dangerous situations never arise. Those measures include: keeping guns locked up between uses; keeping guns unloaded until ready to fire; using proper ammunition; and cleaning your gun regularly.

CLTCC Offering Forestry Technician and Commercial Driving Training Programs

After great success with prior CDL classes, CLTCC is proud to announce that a new Commercial Driving Training class will begin in February 2018.

Central Louisiana Technical Community College Huey P. Long Campus will be holding an informational meeting for those interested in the Commercial Driving Training program. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 18th, at 5:00 p.m.

Shop With A Cop Brings Christmas Cheer

Saturday, December 9, 2017 was an exciting and special day for a group of Winn Parish children.

Throughout the year, the Shop With A Cop organization held fundraisers to help make Christmas merrier for children in our parish. The non-profit group works with schools in the parish to determine children who would most benefit from the special day, that is set aside, just for them.

Pancakes And Pajamas With Santa

This past Saturday morning, the White Meeting Room of the Winn Parish Library was transformed into a Pancake and Pajama Party venue. The Dugdemona Festival Board invited boys and girls to make reservations to wear their favorite Christmas pajamas and enjoy a pancake breakfast, story time and activities with Santa Claus.

The limited spaces sold out quickly, and the annual event is just one of the many ways the festival organizers help keep the Dugdemona Festival free for those who attend each summer.

Winn Residents Welcome Christmas With Parade, Fireworks, And Other Activities

The Christmas season was welcomed to Winn Parish on Friday, December 1st, with the Annual Kiwanis Christmas Parade, the Grand Marshal’s Reception, and the City of Winnfield fireworks show.

After which, the Dugdemona Festival Board held several activities for the parade goers, which only added to the excitement of the day and evening.

The celebration started early, with a police escort bringing Mrs. Katharine Grantadams to the Grand Marshal’s Reception in the Lawrence White Meeting Room of the Winnfield Parish Library. The meeting room was filled with members of the Grantadams family, Mayor Kiah Bevill and members of the city council, members of the Winnfield Kiwanis Club, and all manner of first responders, who were honored in the parade. Tables were laden with an assortment of finger foods and snacks, and the room was dressed with Christmas décor.
