Governor’s FourBall held in Winnfield

The weekend of July 25-27 found 96 players competing for the Governor’s Four Ball title at Pine Ridge Country Club in Winnfield. 48 two-man teams descended upon the greens with hopes of having bragging rights for the next year.

Cindy Seaton Dance Academy takes national title

The Cindy Seaton Dance Academy attended the NYLA National Dance Competition in Biloxi, Mississippi in June and returned home national champions. Eight group members competed, and out of 235 members from 14 other dance studios in multiple states, five of them from the area placed in the top 10 dance off

WSHS Cheerleaders bring home ribbons from camp

Winnfield Senior High School Cheerleaders attended camp at NSU June 8-11. They won blue ribbons for their Home Routine and Fight Song performances. During evaluations, they won blue ribbons for the cheer evaluation and extreme routine evaluation. On the final day, the team was awarded a superior trophy for their Game Day Evaluation. Both the cheer team and the mascot were awarded spirit sticks each night

Clements and Miles Named to AllState Team

Winnfield Senior High  School Softball announced this week that Lady Tigers Emily Clements and Chelsey Miles have been named to the 2014 Louisiana Softball Coaches Association All State Softball Team. Senior third baseman Emily Clements, a two year All State recipient, ended the year with a .345 batting average and a .446 on base percentage.

Winnfield Middle School FBLA Attends State Conference

Nineteen students from the Winnfield Middle School FBLA organization attended State Conference in Lafayette on March 23-25th. The students competed in events ranging from Business Calculations to Current Events, as well as state reports and projects. Although WMS has one of the few middle school FBLA chapters in the state, they did extremely well at State Conference coming home with many recognitions and awards.

Calvin High Schol PTO announces 5k Run

Calvin High School PTO will sponsor All Paws on the Ground 5K Walk/Run Saturday, May 17 at 9 a.m. Early registration is $25 late registration is $30 and begins 7 a.m. on the day of the event in the Calvin High School parking lot.

Second Annual ‘Fishin’ For a Cure’ Tournament

The 2nd Annual Fishin’ for a Cure Bass Tournament has been scheduled for June 21, 2014 at Midway Marina in St. Maurice. The cost to enter $100 per two man team and this includes Big Bass. There will be an 80% payback at this tournament.
