WMS Cross Country Races at Calhoun

In the second meet of the year, Winnfield Middle School cross country raced at the Calhoun Middle School Invitational this past Saturday. Nine schools from across North Louisiana participated in this one mile event held on the school campus.

Tigers fall in close game against St. Mary’s

The Winnfield Tigers faced the St. Mary’s Tigers on Friday, Sept. 19 at Stokes- Walker Stadium in Winnfield. St. Mary’s took home the win during halftime play. The Tigers led St. Mary’s into the fourth quarter, but overtime was forced after a 10-yard run by the St. Mary’s Tigers tied the game

Winn natives take golf championship

Eastridge Country Club’s largest event each summer is their “Ridge Runner 4 Ball” held in Shreveport, LA. There are 200
golfers and hundreds more who attend the event. The competition starts on Thursday, with a practice round for the tournament
and a one day Alternate Shot Shoot-Out.

NSU games broadcast in Winnfield

The  dramatic Northwestern State- Missouri State college football opener last Thursday night at Turpin Stadium is being replayed Tuesday night to Winn Parish Suddenlink cable subscribers. The game replay will be shown at 7 p.m. Tuesday
locally on Suddenlink Channel 8. Winnfield Senior High School alumni Thomas Little and John Shelton are on the Demons’ squad. Little, No. 62, a sophomore offensive guard, graded 86 percent in the game

Tigers begin 2014 season with Jamboree on Friday

season as a practice swing, a way for the players and coaches to get their feet wet ahead of the regular schedule
