WSHS 7 Northwood/Shreveport 6: The Lady Tigers beat three 4- A teams this past weekend as they participated in the Grant Tournament last Friday and Saturday. Friday, the Lady Tigers took on 4-A Northwood Lady Falcons from Shreveport that turned out to be the game of the day as the two teams went into extra innings to get things settled
Winnfield 2 Jena 6: The Lady Tigers traveled east last Monday night to face the 3A State Semifinalist Jena Lady Giants. Darian Thacker went to the circle for Jena and started out with two strikeouts. Lady Tiger pitcher Anna Beth Johnson had her first start of the year and ended the inning with two strikeouts but gave up a three run homer by designated player Burton
The first week of the season was a successful one for the Winnfield Tiger baseball team. The tigers opened the season with a spotless 3 - 0 record due largely in part to dominant pitching performances. In the opening contest, the baseball tigers defeated the Wolverines of Quitman High School 11 to 0 in 5 innings.
On January 25th four members of North Louisiana Isshinryu karate traveled to Andalusia Alabama to test for their Black Belt. Before taking the voyage to Alabama, each black belt candidate had to complete a 5 page written test and write a 3 page essay on the responsibilities of a black belt.
When you walk into the Winnfield Lady Tiger Field House, you see the walls lined with Fastpitch 56 State Tournament banners reflecting the program’s rich history. You see the pictures of players earning All State honors. You see uniforms neatly arranged in each locker anticipating the upcoming season. You see each locker decorated with personal items reflecting each player’s personality and individuality.
Three Winnfield Senior High School Tigers signed to play football beyond the high school level last week. Wednesday, Feb. 5 was National Signing Day across the U.S., where high school seniors sign a letter of intent to commit to play football in a school that is a member of the NCAA.
The 11th Annual Trista Tyler Scholarship Bass Tournament will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Red River Midway Marina at St. Maurice, La. Cost per 2 man team is $160.00 (includes $10) per boat big bass pot). $3,000.00 is guaranteed for 1st place, 60% pay back on entries-100% pay back on big bass.
