The Winnfield Tigers hosted the Many Tigers in the Stokes-Walker Stadium on Friday, September 2, and the match up was not what Winnfield was hoping for. Winnfield was coming off a jamboree win of 6-0 against Loyola Prep, while Many High School brought a 28-18 jamboree win over Natchitoches Central High School.

It’s now been a month since a record-breaking fund raising banquet was held in Ruston when the Lincoln Parish Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited was held with an overflow crowd in attendance. Although all the statistics are not in covering all aspects of the event attended by more than 600 enthusiastic folks, one of the most impressive things about this year’s banquet was how last year’s banquet captured national attention. In fact, the national president of Whitetails Unlimited traveled all the way down from Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin to attend this year’s banquet and bringing with him some special awards to be presented to the local chapter.

The City of Winnfield Recreation Department has extended registration for it’s Flag Football Program. Boys and girls ages 4-12 are eligible for this exciting program. Late registration has been extended until September 23RD. This Will Be The Final Deadline To Register Your Child. Cost is $40.00 per child November. 1st is the age cutoff date. For example: Kids that turn 4 on or before November 1” are eligible for the program, kids that turn 7 on or before November 1 are considered age 7 and play in the 7-9 league, and kids that turn 10 on or before November 1” are considered age 10 and play in the 10-12 league. Don’t Let This Deadline Pass You By.

Jackson Teal, a senior baseball player at Winnfield Senior High School, spent the summer playing for the Louisiana All-Star Baseball team. The team is comprised of players from Lakeside, Airline, Parkway, Denham Springs, Evangel, Winnfield, and Haughton High Schools.

Attorney Thirty-five years ago, two turkey hunting cousins from the Union Parish hamlet of Downsville, whittled out a crude turkey call that didn’t look like much but what it lacked in looks, it made up for it with the sound it produced that would flat-out attract the attention of a wary turkey gobbler. Winnfield Senior High Head Football Coach Andy Pyles spoke to the Kiwanis club Monday, August 22. He talked a few minutes about the flood and people with local connections that had been affected by the flood including former Coach Doug Moreau and his family. A question was asked about displaced football players, would they be able to play? Coach Pyles said that displaced players would be eligible to play at the school they now attend and if they are able to return to their school later they would be eligible to play there. This rule was put into place after Katrina.
